Abstract

The tooth brush comprises a figurehead detachably fixed to a handle. The head contains a module with at least one pushbutton, a loudspeaker, a digital sound generator and a battery (19). When the button is pressed, a tune is generated by the sound generator for a particular period of time and played back through the loudspeaker. This design makes the toothbrush less expensive to produce and makes it easier for children to become accustomed to regular and thorough cleaning of their teeth.

Description

A toothbrush according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from DE-A 3 149 233. A battery is housed in the handle of the toothbrush. A figure head is formed on the stem end. A miniature tape recorder and a loudspeaker are housed in this head. After pressing a pushbutton, the tape recorder plays a melody for 2 to 3 minutes and then rewinds automatically. This is intended to make children's teeth brushing more attractive, and above all to encourage them to brush for a sufficient period of time. Above all, this proposal lacks practical feasibility. A miniature tape recorder with the required small dimensions has not yet been developed. Also the assembly and wiring of the individual electronic components is complex.

The invention has for its object to develop a toothbrush according to the preamble of claim 1 such that it is inexpensive to manufacture. This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing. It shows:
  • Fig. 1 is a side view of the toothbrush, partly in section, and
  • FIG. 2 shows a circuit diagram of the electronic module of the toothbrush according to FIG. 1.

Der Kopf 4 ist zweckmässig wasserdicht versiegelt.1 has a brush body 1 and a handle 2, on the free end of which an external thread 3 is formed. A figure head 4 is screwed onto this. An electronic module 5 is accommodated in the head 4, the circuit diagram of which is shown in FIG. 2. The head 4 is suitably sealed waterproof.

The module 5 comprises a control unit 10, a digital tone generator 11 with three individual chips 12a, 12b, 12c, in which are stored 4 melodies each of two to three minutes in length, and a digital speech synthesizer 13 for issuing cleaning instructions in certain time segments within the time period during which a melody is playing. The tone generator 11 is connected to a loudspeaker 14 and connected to the control unit 10 via a control line 15. The input to the control unit 10 is made via 3 illuminated pushbuttons 16a, 16b, 16c, each with a light-emitting diode 17a, 17b, 17c of different colors. Control unit 10 and tone generator 11 are supplied with two batteries 18, 19, one battery 18 serving to operate the light-emitting diodes, while the other battery 19 supplies the electronics of control unit 10 and tone generator 11.

The function of the toothbrush shown is as follows:

At the beginning of brushing the teeth, one of the three buttons 16a, 16b, 16c is pressed, in accordance with the times of day morning, noon, evening. By pressing the key 16a, 16b, 16c, the corresponding single chip 12a, 12b, 12c is selected via the control unit 10 with a melody repertoire suitable for the time of day, from which a melody is called up and played. During the playing time the melody is periodically interrupted to give cleaning instructions solutions by means of the speech synthesizer 13, for example "at the bottom left outside, at the bottom center outside etc.", for example at intervals of about 15 seconds. During the playing time of the melody, the light-emitting diode 17a, 17b, 17c assigned to the pressed key 16a, 16b, 16c remains switched on and the reception of signals from the keys 16a, 16b, 16c by the control unit 10 is blocked.

The digital tone generator 11 with the chips 12a, 12b, 12c and the speech synthesizer 13 has a low power requirement and can be made very small, so that the entire module 5 can be built as a cube with an edge length of just 2 cm. The same module 5 can be installed in differently shaped heads 4, which enables the production of an assortment of heads that satisfy different tastes at low cost. Since the head 4 is detachably connected to the handle 2, children can also use it to play. This is of great pedagogical advantage because the child is playfully accustomed to the time required for brushing teeth. It can also be used to replace the toothbrush when it is used up without having to throw away the figure head.

In the figure head 4 can be another with dash-dotted lines Lines indicated in Fig. 1, lockable by a cover 25 reservoir 26 with a coil 27 with dental floss can be accommodated. This means that the dental floss can be gripped at any time when brushing your teeth.
