Traditionell erfolgt die Befestigung von Borstenbündeln oder Faserbündeln an Bürstenkörpern mittels Schlingen oder metallischen Ankerplättchen. Bei Verfahren, die ohne Schlingen oder Ankerplättchen auskommen, werden Faserbündel an Trägerplättchen befestigt, indem ihre Befestigungsenden in Löcher des Trägerplättchens eingeführt und auf dessen Rückseite verschmolzen werden. In den Fig. 5 bis 9 ist das Trägerplättchen 110 mit einem hochgezogenen Außenrand 110a versehen und hat wie bei der Ausführungsform nach Fig. 1 und Fig. 2 Durchgangslöcher für stiftförmige Elemente 112 aus Elastomermaterial sowie durchgehende Bündellöcher 114 für Faserbündel 116. Wie in Fig. 5 zu erkennen ist, bildet die Elastomermasse der Elemente 112 auf der Rückseite des Trägerplättchens 110 einen durchgehenden Materialstrang 112a, der die Befestigungsenden der Elemente 112 verbindet. Fig. 6 zeigt zusätzlich die in die Bündellöcher 114 eingesetzten Faserbündel 116, deren Befestigungsenden anschließend wie in Fig. 7 gezeigt verschmolzen werden und eine zusammenhängende Masseschicht 116a auf der Rückseite des Trägerplättchens 110 bilden. In das außenseitig von dem hochgezogenen Außenrand 110a des Trägerplättchens und bodenseitig durch die Masseschicht 116a sowie den Materialstrang 112a begrenzte Volumen wird dann gemäß Fig. 8 eine Masseschicht 120 eingebracht. Die Masseschicht 120 hat die Funktion einer Sperre gegen den Durchtritt plastifizierter Masse in dem darauffolgenden Herstellungsschritt, bei dem ein Bürstenstiel 118 an das Trägerplättchen 110 angespritzt oder dieses mit der Masse des Bürstenstiels umspritzt wird. Der bei diesem Herstellungsschritt erforderliche Spritzdruck kann - ohne die Sperre durch eine Masseschicht 120 - dazu führen, dass plastifizierte Masse in etwaige zwischen Faserbündeln 116 und Bündellöchern 114 verbliebene Freiräume eindringt und eventuell sogar auf der Außenseite des Trägerplättchens austritt. Durch Steuerung und Begrenzung des Spritzdrucks kann dieser unerwünschten Erscheinung vorgebeugt werden, jedoch unter Inkaufnahme kritischer Verfahrensparameter und unter Verzicht auf hohen Spritzdruck, der zur Erzielung optimaler Qualität des Erzeugnisses erwünscht ist. Die bei mäßigem Druck aufgespritzte Masseschicht 120, die aus einem unkritischen Material bestehen kann, verhindert beim Spritzen des Bürstenstiels zuverlässig den Durchtritt von gespritzter Masse in den Bündellöchern, so dass dieser Herstellungsschritt mit optimal eingestelltem Spritzdruck erfolgen kann.
Bei der in Fig. 9 gezeigten Ausführung ist die Masseschicht 120 von der Masse des Bürstenstiels 118 vollständig umspritzt und somit im Inneren des Bürstenkopfes verborgen. Bei anderen (nicht gezeigten) Ausführungen sind ein oder mehr Flächenbereich der Masseschicht 120 nicht vom Bürstenstiel abgedeckt und treten sichtbar und gegebenenfalls auch haptisch in Erscheinung, indem z.B. die Masseschicht 120 speziell gefärbt oder geformt ist oder aus einem speziellen Material wie Elastomer besteht.
