Be it knownthat I, SAMUEL K. AVERY, citizen of the United States, residing at Goodland, in the county of Newton and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shaving-Brushes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to shaving brushes and has for an object to provide a soap-con taining brush and in which the soap. is

Among other features the invention emin the bristles of-thebrush, and a compressing plate threadedly mounted in the said container 'for forcing the soap outwardly therefrom and into the brush body when the container is operated.

Thus-it will be seen that by simply turning the casing 10 relatively to the base 27, the'soap will be forced outwardly from the casing and into contact with the bristles of the brush after which the end of the brush isdipped into water and the desired lather-is produced. It will be further seen and readily understood that in my device a sanitary article is embodied in that any dustor dirt is prevented from coming in contact with the soap before the same is used and the bristles 30 do not repeatedly contact with the same soap as is the case when the usual brush and a separate stick of shaving soap are em"- Although for i the purpose of describing my shaving brush I'have shown a particular construction thereof, it will be understood that I do not limit myself to this construction and the scope of the invention is defined in the appended claim.

" Witnesses Having thus described the invention, I claim I In a device of the class described, the combination. with aninteriorly threaded tubu-' and engaging'the threads on the inner wall of'the said casing, a spider swivelly mountedon the said casing and having the said rod connected thereto, prongs extended from the lower end of thesaid spider and provided with elliptical, openings, a brush head mounted to encircle the spider, and bristles extended from the said brush head to encircle the said prongs.
