Application filed March 1, 1915. Serial Ito. 11,931.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Rnnonr KorrLHnrr, States, and a resident of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Containare for Toilet Powder, of which the follow ing is a specification.
This invention relates to a container for toilet powder, which is adapted to be carried about by ladies, and to be used at home as well as in public.
By my invention the powder may be readily applied in small quantities in a neat and accurate manner, without soiling the dress or gloves, so that the container forms a handy addition to ladies vanity utensils.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a container embodying my invention; Fig. 2 a longitudinal section on line 2-2 Fig. 1; Fig. 3 a similar section partly in view showing the cap removed. Fig. i a longitudinal section of the casing detached and Fig. 5 a cross section on line 5-5 Fig. 2.
The device consists essentially of a box or casing 1 of suitable form and ornamentation, and adapted to house an elastic bag 2, made preferably of rubber. This bag'is removably secured to" the collar 3, of a nozzle at which is screwed into the mouth of casing 1, and extends some distance beyond the latter. Between the inner face of the casing and the outer face of the bag, there is formed a clearance, adapted to accommodate a pair of diametrically disposed resilient arms or bag-squeezers 5, that are attached to the casing by rivets 6. These arms extend rearwardly through a slot 7 formed in the bottom 8 of the casing, and are furnished at their exposed ends with a pair of overlapping eyes 9, that are linked to a suspending chain or similar device 10, by means of a ring 11.
It will be seen that by properly manipulating the eyes, arms 5 will be so oscillated as to exercise a pulsating compression on bag 2, sothat in this way the face powder 12 contained in the latter will be puffed out plunger 16 to i of nozzle 4. In this way the powder may be ejected in small quantities and may be applied with accuracy without any danger of spilling. A spring 13, may be interposed between arms 5, which is fitted within casing 1, back of the bottom of bag 2, which spring is of service more particularly after bag 2 has lost some or" its resiliency.
Casing 1 may be closed by a cap 14, which is adapted to be projected over the same until it rests against a head 15. Within the cap there is accommodated a plunger 16, carrying a pulf 17, and adapted to be propelled outward by a spring 18. The correlation of the parts is such that the length of nozzle 4, is somewhat greater than the depth of putt 17, so that as the cap is projected over the casing, the nozzle will push back such an extent, that the puff becomes completely housed within the casing (Fig. 2) prior to the engagement between casing a nd cap. When the cap is removed, the pufi will be expelled from the cap by spring 18, so as to be in position for use as indicated in Fig. 3.
I claim:
1. A container for toilet powder comprising a casing having a slotted bottom, a nozzle projecting from the casing, an elastic bag within the casing that communicates with the nozzle, a. pair of bag-squeezing members that are secured to the casing and project tom, and a pair of overlapping eyes carried by said members.
2. Acontainer for toilet powder comprising a casing, a nozzle projecting therefrom, an elastic bag within the casing that communicates with the nozzle, a squeezer en gaging the bag, a cap adapted tobe projected over the casing, a spring-controlled plunger within the cap, and a pull carried by the plunger, the depth of the puff being less than the length of the nozzle.
