' Patente ALICEW. swA YNE, or xnlvnn'r'r sateen; rhivliisrtvaiimfi with any one of which a threaded portion on the other section is adapted to mesh so that one of the sections may be extended as desired relatively to the other section and a threaded portion may .be brought 'to a position where it will mesh with a threaded portion on the'other section and may be turned relatively thereto to secure the sections together in adjusted position.
Another object of the invention is to provide a socket of novel construction having a thread .in which a thread on one of the sections normally meshes.
Still other objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred form of my invention is inclosed. i
In the drawings similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the figures, in which- Y Figure 1 is a view showing a brush provided with my improved handle, the handle being illustrated in the extended position;
Fig. 2 is a view similar tothat shown in Fig. [1 but with the handle illustrated in telescopic or closed position; Fig. 3 is an enlarged sectional view of the handle shown in Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is an enlarged rragmentary view showing connection of a telescople section of the handle with asocket which.

Application filed August 20, 1915. Serial No. 46,463.
Aswill best be seen by referring to Fig. 6 of the drawings, inner section 12 is provided with a threaded end 20 which is adapted tomesh with'the inner thread 21 in the socket 22, it being possible by the use of the screws 23 which may extend in the orifices 24 and engage the threaded end 20 of'the section 12 to securethe section 12 against rotation relatively to the socket 22. Pivoted to the socket 222, there is a collar 25 having an extending flange 26 with orifices '27, through which the screws 28 may be disposed, these screws being provided to engage the back 29 of the brush to secure the socket to the brush. Screws 30 are provided for pivotin the collar 25 to the socket 22. The pivotal movement of the In Fig. 8 the invention is shown'as applied to a white wash brush-29.
collar '25 relatively to the socket 22 is of Having thus described my invention, I
claim as new, and desire to secure by Letscopic sections, one of which. is provided with a threaded portion and the. other section is provided with a plurality of threaded portions spaced apart with any one of which the first threaded portion may mesh so that one of the sections may be extended relatively to the other section and the sections may be screwed together to secure the sections together in adj usted' position.
2; In a brush handle, a hollow section having an inner thread,a section disposed within the first section, and'having a plurality of threaded portions spaced apart at its outer surface. adapted to mesh, oneat a time, with the thread of the first section, the name to this specification in the presence of sefcond sectiondbeing enlarged adjacent one the twosubscribing Witnesses. 0 its tln'eade )ortions to :1 11h a ainst an end of the screw of the first section thereby i ALICE 5 to limit the movement of the second section Witnesses: relatively to the first section.
