Beit known that I, ANDREW W. GImHaM,

a citizen of the United States of America,

residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented oertain new and useful Improvements in Fountain Shaving-Brushes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention'relates to shavlng appliances and.has special reference to a shaving brush of the type commonly known as the fountain brush.

One object of the invention is to improve and simplify devices of this character.

"A second object of the invention is to provide a shaving brush of this character wherein a tube of shaving soap, paste or cream may be placed, and which is so arranged that the contents of this tube may be extruded as desired.

This outer tube 20 is also cut away as at 22 that when the outer tube is rotated on the collar 13, the two out portions may be brought into registry whereby to form an opening for the reception of a tube of soap S. When the device is not in use the tube 20 is t'urnedto cover the rear end of the tube S and the sleeve 24 is drawn forward to cover the brush 18.

It should be carefully noted that the tube S may be an ordinary or commercial tube of liquid or soap cream and can be used after removing theusual screw cap or the cap may be replaced by a plug screwed in the top.

Further, for this particular purpose, the tube could be madewith the end sealed up which would be cheaper than putting a threaded cap or plug on the tube and under these circumstances this sealed end should be pierced with a penknife or other suitable.

here has thus been provided a simple and efficient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.

It is obvious that many minor changes may be made in the form and construction without departing from the material principles thereof. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is wished to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed;

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

1. In a device of the kind described, an inner tube having one end arranged to receive the base of a brush, and an outer tube axially pivoted to the inner tube, each of said tubes being provided with a lateral opening, said openings being arranged to register upon IOtfilLlOIlOf the outer tube on the inner tube, said lateral openings being of proper's'ize and shape to permit the insertion of a tube of soap, in combination with a brush having an opening therethrough and. seated in the brush receiving end of the inner tube.

2. In a device of the kind described, an inner tube having one end arranged to receive the base of a brush and provided with a cut-away portion to form a lateral opening and having an end closure provided with a projecting pivot, and a similar outer tube provided with an opening to receive the pivot whereby the outer tube may be rotated on the inner tube to bring the lateral tube openings into and out of registry,

said lateral openings being of proper size and shape to permit the insertion of a tube v of soap, in combination with a brush having an opening thercthrough and seated in the brush receiving end of the, inner tube.

3. In a device of the kind described, an inner tube having one end arranged to receive the base of a brush. and an outer tube axially pivoted to the inner tube, each of said tubes being provided with a lateral "opening, said openings being arranged to register upon rotation of the outer tube on the inner tube, and a sleeve slidable longitudinally with reference to said tubes and arranged to cover and uncover the forward ends of the lateral openings, said lateral openings bein of proper size and shape to permit the insertion of a tube of soap, in combination with a brush having an opening therethrough and seated in the brushreceiving end of the inner tube.

In a'device of the kind described, an inner tube having one. end arranged to receive the base of. a brush and provided with a cut-away portion to form a lateral opening and having an end closure provided with a projecting pivot, a similar outer tube provided with an opening to receive the pivot whereby the outer tube may be rotated on the inner tube to bring the lateral tube openings into and out of registry, and a sleeve slidable longitudinally with reference to said tubes and arranged to cover and uncover the forward ends of the inner tube having one end arranged to re ceive the base of a brush and provided with a cut-away portion to form a lateral opening and having an end closure provided with a projecting pivot, an outer tube provided with an opening to receive the pivot whereby the outer tube may be rotated on the inner tube to bring the lateral tube openings into and out of registry, the forward ends of said tubes being spaced, a.

brush mounted in the forward end of the inner tube, and a sleeve mounted to slide between the spaced portions of said tubes, said sleeve being arranged when in one posi: tion to cover the brush and uncover the lateral openings and when in a second position to uncover the brush and partly cover the lateral openings, said lateral openings being of proper size and shape to permit the insertion of a tube of soap, in combination with a brush having an opening therethrough and seated in the brush receiving end of the inner tube.
