lM PROVEMENT IN INSTRUMENTS FOR REMOVING CORNS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 132,468, dated October 22, 1872.
ing a handle and blade, and the blade being coated by a sharp, gritty material, as hereinafter more particularly described.
In the accompanying drawing, A represents that portion of the instrument which serves as a handle, and B that portion which consti tutes the blade. The blade portion B I coat with a covering of pulverized quartz, crystal, or other equivalent substance which will produce a sharp, hard grit, by means -of glue or other equivalent adhesive material or mixture, and then apply an" outer 00% of alcohol and shellac or other equivalent substance that will make the surface water-proof and prevent the gritty particles from being easily rubbed off without material detriment to the rasping property of said gritty coating.
The blade or rasping portion-of the instrument may be made in any form best suited to operating upon corns and other callosities. One side may be made convex and the other flat, or the form may be otherwise varied.
By rubbing with this instrument corns and other similar callosities may be removed expeditiously without pain or the slightest danger of injury.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- An instrument for removing corns and oth- I or similar callosities of the cuticle, having a blade coated with a gritty materiahsubstantially as herein described.
