TOILET ARTICLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 4, 1920.
Application filed March 22, 1919. Serial No. 284,311.
and more particularly to a -combined brush 1 andclentifrice container and has for its primary object the provision of a device of this character which will consist of a vsectional casing wherein one section normally serves as a sanitary protector for the bristles or cleaning surface of the brush and the other section a handle and container for a dentifrice tube, the construction of the handle section being such that the contents of the dentifrice tube will be maintained in a hermetically sealed condition normally and yet in such manner as will permit of con-l venient removal of the tube when it is de- 18 and iitting thereover in close contact` ytherewith as shown in Fig. l, is closure sired to apply the dentifrice to the bristles or cleaning surface.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character whose construction will be very compact whereby the device can be conveniently carried in the pocket of the user.
A still further object of the invention pertains to the provision of a tooth brush structure including a section adapted to receive an ordinary or stock form of dentifrice tube and the provision of a closure which will be common to both the'tube and said section so that in the event that the tube is not properly sealed bythe closure there will remain the possibility of proper sealing contact between the parts`through engagement of the closure with said section, thereby resorting to several methods of preventing deterioration of the dentifrice by vthe action of atmospheric conditions.
In the drawings Figure l is a longitudinal section through the device showing parts in elevation.
Fig. 2 is a similar view showing a slightly modified form of the invention.
b Fig. l, and. Fig. 4 is a section .on line '--t of Fig. 2.
ln carrying the invention into practice, 'Y
use is made of a casingl 5 comprising a hollow handle section 6 and a hollow protecting section 7, one end of the former being re- .the section 7 thereover.
Fior. 3 is a section taken on line k3%3 of duced as at 8 to receive the open end of The section 7 is closed at one end as at 9 and secured within the section in suitable spaced relation to the closed end 9 is a perforated disk l0 between kwhich and said closed end 9 is a suitable antiseptic substance ll. Any suitable chemical preparation may be employed wan antiseptic which will serve to chemically permeate the interior of the section 7'- around tlie bristles of the brush and thereby maintain a sanitary condition ofthe latter.
The section 6 is provided with a crown wall 12 on which is formed a threaded portion 13. Detachably. fitted in saidportion is a correspondingly threaded portion ll of a brush head l5, the latter having bristles 1G or anvequivalent cleaning surface. Fastening means 17 are provided between the ltwo sections 6 and 7 to normally maintain a connected condition thereof.
-One end of the section 6 is open as at cap 19, the central portion of which being provided with a threaded extension 20 which detachably receives the threaded neck 2l of a dentifrice tube 22.v The tube is of a form whereby it can be normally housed within the section 6 of the structure. rlhe closure 19 is such that it acts both to seal the open end of the sectionl 6 and also the neck 2l of the dentifrice tube. in this manner it will be observed that in the event of carelessness in improperly connecting the extension 2O with the neck 21, the'onter walls of the closure cap will establish a sealing contact lwith the walls of the section 6 to guard against darnlage to the contents of the tube 22 by the action of the atmosphere. The construction also seals the sectionG in a manner to exclude the entrance of foreign mattei' thereto.
In the form of the invention shown in Fig. 2, the reduced portion 8 of the section 6a is exteriorly threaded at 23 to receive the correspondingly threaded walls 24 of the section 7a. Also in this form the cap 19EL has its walls 25 .interiorly threaded at 26 to receive a corresponding thread 27 of the section 6a.
In each forni of the invention a suitablA sealing gasket 28- is employed between the closure cap and the threaded. neck 21 of the' dentifrice tube,
correspondingly For the purpose of convenience, the sect-ion 7 of the structure as shown in Fig. 1 may be provided with a pocket engaging clip whose object is to prevent loss ot' the article when carried in the pocket of the user.
Vhat is claimed as'new isz- 1. In a tooth brush structurel.. a casing consisting)r of mating detachably connected sections, a brush detachably carried by one of saidl sections and adapted to be inclosed by the other section, a closure member for y the first section, which member is capable of sealing,` the open exteriorly threaded end ot' a dentifrice tube which may be inwith the iil'st section,
closed when arranged within said iirst sectlon.
2. A tooth brush structure)comprising a hollow section. a brush detachably connectedA to said section. a section adapted to be detachably connected Jor the first section, which member is capable of sealing the open exteriorly threaded end of a dentifrice tube which may be incloeed when arranged-within said first section. l
In testimony whereof l have aiixed my signature.
