Be it known that l, Louis -DAYEIL a citizen of the United States, residing atPhiladelphia, in the county of Philadelphia. and State of Pennsylvan1a',ha.ve invented new and useful Improvements in Combination Toothbrush and Dentifrice Holders, of which the following is a'speciiication This invention relates to dental requisites and it has more particular reference to prophylactors orcombination tooth brush and dentifrice holders adapted for traveling purposes, and it has forits primary object the provision of a novel device of the 'foregoing specified character which is vsanitary in every respect.

Another object of this .invention is to vide a combination tooth brush and tifrice holder in which the closure for the brush and dentifrice tube effects the sealing of said tube whereby its content is prevented from deterioration or waste, while the brush is housed so -that ,air may circulate thereabout whereby the same is permitted to dry and saved from becoming foul or unsanitary due to `being leftmore or less damp after use.

A further object of this invention 1s to pro ide a device of the character referredto having a novel means for e'ecting thel eruding of the dentifrice from its container,

' the same being of a nature that ensures an easy feed of said dentrifice on to thetooth parts hereinafter fully described and morey brush as required.

In the furtherl disclosure of the invention reference is to be had to the accompanyingsheet of drawings constituting a part of this specification and inwhich like characters of reference designate the same or corresponding parts in all the views.`

Referring to the views the numeral 7 designates ay substantially rectangular casing having a slightly reduced end 8 on which the cap or cover 9 is adapted to frictionally fit so that an even and smoothly finished article is presented. Slidingly fitting into a loop 10 stamped up from the metal or other material from which the casing 7 is made is a slide 11 havngan angular end l2 that is fitted with a pivoted clasp-13 which in use is adapted to engageftheneck 14 of the, tube of dentifrice 15 and iirmly'hold the same against displacement as later` on' explained. l

Stamped out from the cap or cover 9 is atongue or projection -16 whichvis inwardly turned at right angles thereto and lhaving a degree of resiliency which is adapted to automatically seal or close the aforesaid neck 14 of the dentifrice tube 15 when the ordinary screw cap is removed therefrom andthe cap or cover 9 is placed in position on the rectangular casing 7 above referred to.

In order to provide an effective means for lWmding up or collapsingthe tube of dentifrice 15' preferably employ the means'indicated in the drawin the same comprising a slotted spindle 17 w ich is adapted to engage the inner end of the tube by passage of saidtube threugl'il the slot 18 therein. This yslotted spindle 17- is arranged for operation through a longitudinal slot 19 in one side of the aforesaid rectangular casing 7 and it is fitted with a lockw'asher 20 and a knurled head 21, the latter'serving as a means whereby the spindlel? may be wound up-to com-- press the tube 1,5 and cause the paste or simiar dentifrice therein contained to be exuded through the neck 11i as required. .An ordinary toothbrush 22 may be stored in the one side ef the casing 7 and it will be perfectly obviousthat the same is edectively prevented from becoming musty or fouled .due to air being enabied to circulate there about through the aperture 22 in the cover or cap 9, which is caused by the stripping out therefrom `of vthe aforementioned tongue 16.

From the foregoing it will be readil understood that to insert' a tube 15 of entifrice the slide 11 is lstiy'removed and the l perspective view of a spacslotted spindle 17 caused to engage the in-A ner end of said tubewhereupon the slide is re-inserted between the loop 10 and the redpced part 8, thereby locking the-.tube in ace. p Now it will be perfectly obvious that by turning the knurled head 2l in a clockwise or contra-clockwise direction, the tube will be collapsed and the dentifrice can be exuded through the neck 14 thereof onto the bristles of the brush 22 as desired. The numerous advantages of a combined brush and dentifrice holder constructed in accordance with the foregoing invention will be perfectly clear without further. explanation or description and it will 'also be obvious that by my invention I have provided a simple, useful and very sanitary article for the pur poses hereinbefore specified.

`While I have shown and described a preferred embodiment of my invention it will be obvious that the same is susceptible of minor chan es and modifications without departing fgrom the principle and scope thereof and for the foregoing reason I wish it hereby clearly understood that I do not limit myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts shown but consider myself at liberty to makesuch detail changes and Variationstherein as fairly lie within the scope of the appended claims. Having described my invention, what I 'claim as new and desire to secure by Letters portion having an inwardly turned tongue projecting thereinto, means for retaining a tube of dentifrice within the casing wher by said tongue in the cap is adapted to seal the same when the device is closed, means for collapsing the tube. of dentifrice to exude its content as required; and a tooth brush adapted for storage in one side of the complete casing.

2. A tooth paste holder comprising a substantially rectangular casing having a reduced neck portion, a closure for said neck portion having an inwardly turned tongue projecting thereinto, a slide fitting in a loop in the rectangular casing and having an angular portion provided, and a locking clasp pivoted on the said angular portion for gripping the neck of the tube of tooth paste.
