A. WALLACE TOOTHBRUSH Original Filed Feb. 16. 1922 flame/11401 Mew .1905
(MW chm I Patented July 29, 1924.
UNITED "STATES.
ABRAHAM WALLACE, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
TOOTHBRUSH.
Application filed February 16, .1922, Serial No. 536,916. Renewed December 27, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM WALLACE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toothbrushes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is an improved fountain tooth brush which is simple in construction tles 2 secured in said head, and a hollow handle 3 extending rearwardly from said head. The handle 3 is provided with a pair of diametrically opposed longitudinal slots 44 andapair of pressure plates 5-5 are arranged in the handle covering said slots. An elastic fountain tube 6 is placed in the handle between the plates 55, from the forward end of which tube extends a nozzle- 7 intothe head 1, through an aperture 8,
Figure 1 is a side view of my tooth brush,
My brush includes a hollow head 1 brisin the lower wall of said head and then between the bristles 2. On the rear end of the fountain tube 6 is a nipple 9 which extends through an aperture 10 in the rear end I of the handle 3, which nipple is normally closed by a cap 11 which screws thereon. The nipple is internally threaded to engage the threaded nipple 12 of a tooth paste supply tube 13, by means of which supply tube the fountain tube 6 is filled with tooth paste.
By pressing inwardly through slots 4 upon the plates 5 5 the tooth paste is forced out of the tube 6 through nozzle 7 into the bristles 2.
Having described my invention, I claim:
In a fountain brush, a hollow handle, a hollow head formed by an extension of said handle, bristles projecting laterally from said head, said head being formed with an openin located substantially centrally of said brlstles, an elastic fountain tube in said handle for containing tooth paste, means on one end of said tube projecting through said opening-for guiding tooth paste to the bristles, said handle being provided with elongated slots on opposite sides thereof, a plate on each side of said tube between the handle and the tube, each plate covering one of said slots, an internally and externally screw threaded nipple on the rear end of said fountain tube extending through the rear end of said handle, and a cap detachably secured to the nipple.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ABRAHAM WALLACE.
