' rorLn'r CASE.
Application filed Hay 6,1922. Serial No. 558,959. Renewcd'Rovember 24, 1928.
7 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that/I. CLYDE W. MATH'nn,
' a citizen of the United States, residing at Leonard, in the county of San Miguel and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Toilet Cases, of which the followin is a specification, reference being had to t e accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to improvements in toilet cases, and more particularly to a by these two articles, necessary in traveling,
combined receptacle for a tooth-brush and paste. An'important object of the invention is to provide a device of this character wheremay be packed in'a very small space, and in fact carried in the ocket'after the manner of a fountain pen if so desired.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this characterin which the 'brush portion of't-he device is removable for replacement.
' -.A still further object is to provide a casing having the tooth-brush attached thereto and a cavity receiving a tube of aste, to gether with a cap having means i dr secur in thereto a tube of paste for closing-theen of the last named cavity;
These and other objects I attain by the construiztion andarrangement shown in-the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein like reference characters designate like parts throughout.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a longitudinal section taken through a toilet case constructed in accordance with my invention tached;
Figure 3 is a detail. side elevation of a Figure 2 is a plan view of the brush de portion of the paste container;
Figure dis a sectional view showing the paste tube and container constructed separately;
Figure 5 isan enlarged detail view of the paste container tube ca and Figure'fi is a side e evation of the toilet thereof, as indicated at 11, and provided at cap 19 engage in the threads 11 at one end of the casing 10.
The numeral 20 designates a brush section, the bristles 21 of which may be of any desired degree of stiffness and the shank of which is provided with an exteriorly threaded extension 22 for engagementin the interior screw threads 12 at the other end of the casing 10. This threaded portion ,is preferably tubular so as to permit the cap end of the paste tube 14 to seat in the shank so as to in so far as possible reduce the over all length of the completed device. The niimeral 23 designates a closure cap having one end closed and the opposite end provided with interior screw threads for engagement with the external screw threads 13 of the casing 10. This cap encloses the brush 20 when not in use and effectually prevents the gathering of dust and the like thereon, and may be provided if so' desired with an attaching clip 24 so that it may be secured within a pocket of the owner ail the manner of a fountain pen.
' Ifdesired, the paste tube containermay be separately formed, as shown in Figure 4. In this figure the tube 10 has one end thereof closed, as indicated at 25, and the opposite end thereof interiorly screw-threaded, as at 11, the remaining construction being identical-with that employed in attaching the tube in the construction above described. Such a device eliminates the necessity of carrying a tube of paste in a toilet case, suitcase or the like where it is liable to be crushed and the sticky contents thereof spread upon the remaining articles. The paste tube will be as readily removable as in the above construction and will be readily accessible when it is desired to'use the same. Such separate construction is particularly well adapted for use in conjunction with a tooth-brush holder constructed in accordance with my co-pend- '65 flange 18 formed upon the closure cap 19. The exterior threads of the flange 18 of the] ing application, even date herewith for tooth-brushes.
From the foregoing it is believed to be obvious that'a device constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for the use for which it is intended cap and tube, these separate parts may be 15 given a very thorou h cleansing to maintain thesame at all times in a sanitary condition. ltwill furthermore be obvious that the construction ashereinbefore set forth is,
capable of some change and modificationwithout materially departing from the spirit "of my, invention and I accordingly do not limit myself thereto except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim 1. In a device of the ty engaged with one end of the tube, a cap enclosing thebrush and engageable with the brush engaged end of the tube, a closure for the op ojsite'end of the tube, and a disperis ing tu e having its base removably engaged.
with the closure and normally concealed within the tube, the tube engaging end of the brush being provided with a recess re- Serial No. 558,960 filed of e described and in combination, a tube, a rush removably ceiving tube. y. g
2. A device of the type described comprising a tube interiorly screw-threaded at each end thereof and provided at one end with the dispensing end of said dispensing vexterior screw-threads, a, brush having a threaded shank engaged with the interior threads at one end of the tube, a cap en-v closing the brush and having internalscrewthreads engaged with the external screwthreads of the tube, a closure for the other end of the tube having external screwthreads engaging the internalscrew-threadsof the tube, and a dispensing tube removably engaged with said closure.
3. A device of the type described comprising a tube interiorly' screw-threaded at each end thereof and provided at one end with exterior screw-threads, a brush having. a
threaded shank engaged with the interior threads at one end of the tube, a cap en closingthebrush and havingdnternal screwthreads engaged with the le'grternal screwthreads of the tube, a closure for the other end of the tube having: external screwthreads engaging the internal screw-threads of the tube, and a dispensing tube removably engaged with said closure, the shank of the brush being provided with a socket receiving. the dispensing end of said dispensing I tube.
