Description
Oct. 12 1926. 1,602,531 Y. o. ITOH TOOTHBRUSH CONTAI NER Filed May 5, 1926 INVENTOR Vetisa 0 lloh BY Wm ATTORNEY Patented Oct. 12, 1926.
UNITED STATES YE'ISU O ITOH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
TOOTHBRUSH CONTAINER.
Application filed May 5, 1926. Serial No. 106,820.
This invention relates to a new or improved toothbrush container and has for its object to provide a simple but yet effective package in which a toothbrush can be effectively housed prior to use and which package is also adapted to contain aquantity or tooth powder for use with the toothbrush.
The invention is particularly adapted for use in connection with toothbrushes for guest or temporary use.
The invention consists in the package hereinafter described in connection with the accompanying drawings and in the novel combination of parts set forth in the appended claims.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective View of a package constructed according to the present invention with a toothbrush in place therein, the package being folded or creased ready to receive the desired accompanying quantity of tooth powder.
Fig. 2 is a view of part of Fig. 1 showing the powder pocket sealed after the insertion of the desired quantity of tooth powder therein, and,
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the completed package.
In the several figures of the drawings, the reference numeral 1 indicates an elongated package preferably formed of a length of transparent paper folded in half upon itself in a longitudinal direction and then gummed or otherwise secured along the side 2.
The paper forming one side of the package 1 is a little longer than that forming the other side so that after thefolding in half above described a short piece 3 is left which is folded over the latter sine and then gummed or otherwise secured in place as shown at the right in Figs. 1 and 3.
Some distance from the other end, that is to say, the left hand end in the drawings,
the package 1 is folded or creased transversely as shown at 4: to form a pocket 5 adapted to receive a quantity of tooth powder for use with the toothbrush 5. After the toothbrush and the powder have been inserted, the former in thepackage and the latter in the pocket, the latter is closed by gumming or otherwise securing thereover a doubled strip of paper 7.
Finally, the pocket 5 is secured in place doubled back upon the package 1 by means of a gummed seal 8 or e uivalent means which overlaps both the pac age and pocket as shown in Fig. 3.
As will be readily understood, the pocket 5 although integral with and forming a continuation of the package 1, nevertheless is separate from the latter owing to the sharp crease or fold 4 which forms a division and effectually prevents the powder from entering the package 1.
When it is desired to use the toothbrush 6, the seal 8 is broken, the pocket 5 is turned back into line with the package 1, the latter is then torn off at any suitable place and the toothbrush can then be dipped .into the powder and withdrawn from the package for use.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A container comprising an elongated package adapted to contain a toothbrush, a pocket at one end of said package, adapted to contain a quantity of tooth powder, formed by folding the material of the package back upon itself, means for closing the outer end of said pocket, and means for retaining said pocket in its folded position upon the package.
2. A container comprising an elongated package of transparent paper'adapted to contain a toothbrush, an integral pocket at one end of said package, adapted to contain a quantity of tooth powder, formed by creasing the material of the package and folding it back upon. itself, a doubled strip of paper for closing the outerend of said pocket, and means for retaining said pocket in its folded position upon the package.
3. A container comprising an elongated package adapted to contain a toothbrush, a pocket at one end of said package, adapted to contain a quantity of tooth powder, formed by folding the material of the package back upon itself, means for closing the outer end of said pocket, and a seal engaging the pocket and the package for retaining the former in its folded position upon the latter.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
YETSU O ITOH.
