H. L.. KERRIS SANITARY BRUSH HOLDEER FOR SHAVING BRUSHES Patented Feb. 8, 1927.
HARRY LEONARD KERRI'S, OF DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA.
SANITARY BRUSH HOLDER FOB SHAVING BRUSHES.
Application filed May 6, 1926. Serial No, 107,196.
This invention relates to a sanitary brush holder for shaving brushes and the like and has for an important object thereof the provision of a device of this character which will prevent the brush from collecting dust and dirt and which will tend to remove any moisture remaining in the brush after use of the same.
The invention more particularly applies to a holder for use with shaving brushes.
' A more specific object of the invention is to provide a device including a sponge cup and having means whereby it may be secured to the brush in such a manner as to completely enclose the bristles of the same tration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of a brush having applied thereto asanitary holder constructed in accordance with my invention;
' Figure 2 is a similar View, the holder being shown in section;
Figure 3 is a section on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Referring now more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 10' generally designates a shavingbrush which, in accordance with my invention, has'the bristle engaging end 11 of the handle '12 threaded for coaction with a tubular container 13. The lower end of'this container is provided with a threaded extension l and between the extension and the chamber an end wall 15 1s in the ap 13, is arbristles 16 a plurality provided. This end wall, while plied position of the container ranged adjacent the ends of the of the brush and is formed with of perforations 18.
The extension 1% is exteriorly threaded for coaction with the interior threads of a cap 19. This cap has its bottom wall convexly curved, the convexity opposing the end of the container 13,'while the wall 15 is oppositely curved, so that between these walls a bi-concave chamber 20 is produced within which is disposed a sponge of some 1 similar moisture absorbent substance. The side wall of the cap 19 is provided with an upturned flange 21 forming about the outer wall thereof an annular channel 22 whichis in communication with the chamber-20 by ports 23 opening through the bottom wall of the chamber. These portsserve both to permit excess Water to pass through the gutter formed by the channel 22 and to permit the entrance of air for drying the sponge and accordingly the bristles 16 of the brush. r 7 Since the construction hereinbefore set forth iscapable of a certain range of change and modification without materially departing from the spirit of the. invention, I do not limit myself to such specific structure except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim 1. In combination with a brush having the lower end of the sponge receptacle and into said gutter.
2. In combination with a brushfhaving bristles and a handle in one end of which the bristles are affixed, a casing adapted to surround the bristles of the brush and having means at one end for engaging the handle to provide a sealing connection therewith, the bottom wall of the casing being per-, forated and a cap engaged with the lower end of the casing combining with the lower end wall thereof to provide a sponge receptacle, the cap having openings for draining water from andadmitting air to the sponge receptacle, said cap providing a gutter into which said openings discharge.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
HARRY L. KERRIS.
