The present invention relates to improvements in tooth brushes and has reference I more particularly to an attachment for the free end of the handle portion of the brush, 5. the attachment comprising a scraper which ma be used for cleansing the tongue. ne of the important objects of the present invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character wherein the scraper attachment comprises a depending blade at the free end portion of the handle, the lower edge of the blade being adapted to scrape the coating from the tongue when the brush end of the handle is manipulated by the person using the article.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character which is simple in construction, inexpensive, strong and durable and further '2 well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

Other objects and advantages will become apparent during the course of the following description.

In the drawing wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the referred ems bodiment of my invention, the numeral 1 designates generally a conventional tooth brush wherein the same includes an elongated handle portion 2 and a brush head 3.

Formed on the free end of the handle portion 2 is my improved tongue scraper, the same comprising a flat body or blade 4, the same tapering gradually toward its lower edge to form a. scraping edge 5, and as is clearly illustrated in thefdrawing, the free end portion of the handle joints the body at the top central portion thereof. The b ads is disposed substantially at right angles to the adjacent .end of the handle portion 2 of the tooth brush 1 and due to its arrangement, the scraper 'will not interfere wlth the proper use of the tooth brush in brushing the teeth. t

When the scraper is to be used, the brush head end of the handle is grasped by the person using the implement, and the opposite end' of the handle carrying the scraper is inserted within the mouth so that the scraping edge 5 will contact with the surface of the tongue for removing any coating which may be deposited thereon, and this in a 5 simple and efli'cient manner.

It will thus be seen from the foregoing de'-- scription, that I have provided a combination device which can be manufactured at a very low cost and which will enable a person to properly cleanse the month by both brushing the teeth and scraping the tongue. While I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to beunderstood that various changes in the size, shape and I0 arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim. 1

Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is -As anew article of manufacture, a tongue scraper comprising an elongated handle increasing gradually in width toward one end, a flatblade of substantially rectangular shape formed onthe larger end of the handle and disposed at right angles with respect thereto, said blade being joined at its uppercentral portion to the larger end of the h'andle, the upper corners of he blade being rounded, said blade tapering gradually toward its lower edge. a
