Description

Nov. 19, l929. B. ANSEHL 3,?365921;
DISPENSER Filed May 16, 1927 kPatented l Nov.- 19, 1929 UNITED. STATES l BEIW'AMIN ANSEHL .0F ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI" I DISPENSER Application filed May- 16,
410 for application lupon the teeth or face.
And with the above and other objectsu'in View, my invention resides in the novel features of form, construction, arrangement, and 'combination of parts hereinafter described 1s and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings,
Figure 1 illustrates in longitudinal section a tooth-brush embodying my invention;
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view of the brush taken approximately on the line 2-2, Figure 1; and
Figure 3 is a plan view of the brush, partly broken away and in section. e
Referring now. more in detail and by reference characters to the drawing, which illustrates a preferred embodiment of my invention, v
A designates a present day common or standard tube, having as its contents toothpaste, shaving-cream, or the like, the tube A including a body 1 folded upon itself and` closed at one end, as at 2, andv providedvor formed at its other end with `a mouth 3 externally threaded, as at 4, to receive the usual closure-cap, not shown. It ma be added that body 1 is of such relatively' so or collapsible structure that, under pressure thereupon, mouth 3 being o en, the contents of the tube discharge in thev orm of a ribbon or strip. 4
B designates my new brushpr'oper. vThemain or body portion of brush B is preferably in the form of a hollow vcylindrical-shell or casing 5, which is open, or adapted to be epened, at its one or rear end, as at 6, to
receive and temporarily or usably house the tube A, and which is preferably constructed of any suitable somewhat `rigid metallic material to also provide a handleforrthe brush.`
At its opposite or forward end, shell 5 is diametrically reduced, as; at r7, andr ,formed 19,21. sena1'1r0.191,751.f f
either integrally witlror` otherwise suitably fixed to the shell 5 at its reduced'end` 7, is
a suitably elongatedhollow extension or stem 8. Suitably fixed or conjoined to stem 8 in the present brush, is a preferably oblong-rectangular plate or section 9 equipped with bristles 10.'V Formed in the plate 9 andthe 1 adjacent portion ofthe wall of stem18, is a plurality of'perforati'ons or orifices 11 providing an outlet from the ystem 8 and adapted 60 to lead yor direct upon the bristles 10 the paste, cream, or the like fed into and"discharging from thestem 8. e ,y Suitably fixed within the shell 5 at its reduced end 7 and providing communication 65 between the chambersof shell 5'and stem `8,
is a sleeve 12 of diametricaldimension'and internally threaded to receive andengage 1 with' vthe neck 3 of tubejA.
At the peripheral margin of its end 6, shell .70 5 isexternally threaded, as at 13, for retaining engagement with a flanged land cooperatively threaded cap 14, which is' adapted to be threaded into engagement with shell'5y so as to freely swivel thereupon in one direction. '1liv Formed upon the inner face of the end wall of f cap 14, is a gripping-member `15 preferably in the form of co-operating jaws adapted for engagement with the inserted. and housed tube v A for effecting a twisting thereof, as shortly "30 more fully appears. The cap 14 is thus adapted to perform thefunction both of 4a detachable or removabley closurefor the end 6 of shell 5 anda twisting member-,for thetube A: 'y
Hence, in use and operation, ca 14 beingfg detached and shell 5`open at its en 6, aifi'lled' tube A is endwise inserted into the lshell and;
threadedat its neck 3 into engagement with" the shell-sleeve 12, asbest seen in Figure 1. The tube vA is thereby detachably secured at itsone end 3 for discharge within tleshell 5.2
1 The cap 14 is thenengaged -atits gripping member 15 with the opposite or free end 2 ai the tube A and engaged at its flange with the threaded end `6 of shell 5. Thereu on on further threadin of the cap 14, the tu A, which is firmly hel at its neck 3, will be twisted upon itself andV its contents consequently forcedor fed into stem 8 and in due course ejectedithrough the orifices-11 upon the'bris- 100' lli upon the brush-bristles.
Vzo
, arrangement, and combmatlon of 'the several tles 10 for application u on the teeth in the usual manipula-tions of the brush, the cap 14 swiveling upon shell 5 after the cap 14 is fully seated in end-closing position thereupon. In such manner, through twisting of tube A, its contents may be fully discharged and con sumed. 'Thereu on, in reverse rotary movement, in turn, o the cap 14 and the used tube A, the used tube A maybe detached and a new tube A substituted, as will be well understood.
My new brush is quite simple and inexpensive in form and structure and in a most cleanly andconvenient manner effects a ornati-- cally ejection of the paste ,or crea While not specifically here shown, it will be evident that mymnew rushrmay be equally welladapted for shaving andl ot er like uses, and that changes in the form, c struction,
" parts lof the brush may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the nature and principle of my invention.
v Having thus describedmy invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
1. In combination, a shell open at one end and having a threaded outlet at its other end, a. tube disposedlengthwise within, and having threaded engagementat anl end with the outlet of the shell, and a flanged closure-cap for the open end of the shell, the cap at its flange having engagement with the exterior surface of the shell at an end thereof for r0- tatory movement on and axially of the shell, and the ca being adapted for engagement with the tu e for effecting through twisting thereof ejection of its contents through said' outlet.
2. In combination, a shell open at one end and having a threaded outlet at its other end, a tube disposed lengthwise within, and having threaded engagement at an end with the outlet ofthe shell, a flanged closure ca for the open end of the shell, the cap at its' ange having engagement with the exterior surface of the shelly at an end thereof for rotatory movement on and axially of the shell, and Cooperating jaws on the cap presented inwardly of the shell and adapted forengagement with the tube for el'ecting throughtwisting thereof ejection of its contents through said outlet. 4 K t y In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
