This invention relates to improvements in tooth brushes.

The primary object of the invention resides in a tooth brush in which the handle constitutes a holder for a tube of dentrifice, and means whereby the contents of the tube may be di'spensed directly upon the bristles of the brush in such quantities and at such time as is required.

Another object of the invention is to provide a combined tooth brush and dentrifice holder embodying a flexible tube connected to the out-let end of the dentrifice tube and normally held in an out of the way position so as not to interfere with the use of the brush during the brushing of the teeth, but which flexible tube may be moved to a position over the bristles of the brush to deposit a quantity of dentrifice thereon.

A further object resides in a tooth brush in whichfthe tube of dentrifice is removably connected thereto, and which permits replacement of a' dentrifice tube as the same is emptied of its contents.

lVith these and other objects in view, the .invention resides in certain novel construction and combination and arrangement of parts.` the essential features of which are hereinafter fully described, are particularly pointed out in the appended claims. and are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in

ial view through a' modified form'of my inven- Referring more particularly to the drawing, the reference numeral 1,0 designates my improved tooth brush in its entirety, which includes a hollow handle member 11 open at one end -and which is provided with an inwardly extending threaded nipple 12 at its opposite end. The open end of the handle member is provided with the hinged door 13 whereby a tube of dentrifice or the like 14:

imay be inserted and the door 13 swung to a closed position to retain the same therein. The threaded neck or discharge end of the dentrifice tube 14 threadedly connects with the nipple 12 as clearly shown in Figure 2 of the drawing. The head 15 is contiguous from one wall of the casing or hollow handle 11 and contains the usual brstles 16. For the purpose of maintaining the bristles in a sanitary condition when the brush is not in use, I provide a cover member 17, which is open at one. end for the insertion of the cover over the bristles end of the brush, and which open end is provided with a hinged door 18 provided with a cut out portion 19 to accommodate the extending shank between the head and the casing 11.

The construction herein before described is generic to the two forms of my invention shown in Figures 1.to 8, inclusive, and Figure 4:, but in the preferred form shown in the first three figures I em loy a novel means by which the contents o the collapsible tube 14 may be dispensed.

In this form I provide a plurality or series of push buttons 20, each of which includes an outer manipulating head 21 and an inner presser head 22, the said head being connected by a shank 23 slidably mounted in one of the side walls of the casing or handle member 11. When a full tube of dentifrice is inserted into the hollow handle, all, of the push buttons 20 will be in an outwardl extended position, and in use,` the outerv en push button is first manipulated to compress the base or lower endv of the collapsible tube, and when fully compressed, the operator pro; cceds to depress the next adjacent push button. It will be seen that when all of the push buttons are in a fully depressed position, the full contents of the collapsible tube will be dispensed.

Connected to the nipple 12 is an elastie flexv ible tube 24, of a length sullicient to extend. to

a position over the bristles' of the brush, whereby dentifrice compressed from the tube 14 may be deposited upon the bristles of the brush for use. IVhen not in use, the said flexible tube 24 may be bent backward and held in an inoperative position by the insertion of the same into a spring clip 25 mounted on the hollow handle 11 as clearly shown in dotted lines in Figure 2 of the drawing. This same fleXible tube is shown in the modified form in Figure 4 of the drawing and like reference characters refer to like parts there 1n.

In Figure 4 the hollow handle 11 is provided with a longitudinal slot 26 in which a manipulating member or carriage 27 is slidably mounted, the said member 27 having a roller 28 journaled therein and disposed within the said casing to ride over the collapsible tube 14.

From the foregoing it will be understood that upon manual movement of the manipulating member 27, longitudinally of the hollow handle 11 the roller 28 will tend to flatten out the collapsible tube 14, Whereby the full contents of the said tube may be dispensed.

While I have described what I deem to be i the most desirable embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that many of the details may be Varied without in any way departing from the spirit of my invention, and I therefore do not limit myself to the exact details of construction herein set forth to anything less than the whole of my invention limited only by the appended claims.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A tooth brush having a hollow handle, a door at one end thereof, a collapsible tube housed Within said hollow handle, a flexible tube connected to the discharge end of said collapsible tube, the free end of said flexible tube adapted to be manually positioned over the bristles of said brush, means on said handle for securing said flexible tube in a fiexed iuoperative position away from the bristles of the brush, and means on said handle engageable With said collapsible tube for squeezin the contents thereof out through said fiexi le tube.
