Abstract

A stroke-counting and multifunctional golf glove, wherein stroke counters, a divot tool pouch for carrying a divot tool, a golfing tee holder dimensioned to receive a golfing tee and a golf ball marker are provided, thus improving the overall efficiency and accuracy of a golfer's game.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates generally to golf accessories and more specifically to a stroke-counting and multifunctional golf glove. This invention is particularly useful in enabling golfers to keep track of the number of strokes they and their opponents make per hole, and further provides readily accessible golfing tools.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A successful game of golf consists playing a ball from the teeing ground into the hole in the fewest possible number of strokes. Since a full round of golf entails playing eighteen such holes, it can become difficult for a golfer to keep track of the number of strokes made per hole. This difficulty is often heightened when there are multiple players, wherein the waiting period between each golfer's attempt at playing a hole can typically lead a golfer to forget to record the number of strokes he/she made on the previous or present hole.

According to official golfing rules, an opponent is entitled at any point during the game to ascertain from another player the number of strokes he/she took on the hole just played. If a player gives an opponent wrong information as to the number of strokes taken on the hole just played and fails to correct that information, thus affecting an opponent's understanding of the result of the hole, the player will lose the hole. It is imperative therefore, that a player keep constant and accurate recordation of the number of strokes he/she made on the hole just played.

Present applications to keep such proper recordation of stroke count entail filling out score or stroke count cards. Although an easy task, such applications are often an annoyance and prove to be far too tedious for a golfer eager to play the next hole. Moreover, when concentrating and strategizing the play of the next or present hole, it typically becomes difficult for a golfer to remember stroke count when so engrossed in the game.

Therefore, it is readily apparent that there is a need for a stroke-counting and multifunctional golf glove, wherein accurate stroke counting is provided as well as readily available golfing tools, thus improving the overall efficiency and accuracy of a golfer's game.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Briefly described, in a preferred embodiment, the present invention overcomes the above-mentioned disadvantages, and meets the recognized need for such a device by providing a stroke-counting and multifunctional golf glove, wherein accurate stroke counting is provided as well as a readily available divot tool, golf ball marker and golfing tee, thus improving the overall efficiency and accuracy of a golfer's game.

According to its major aspects and broadly stated, the present invention in its preferred form is a strokecounting and multifunctional golf glove having a glove, stroke counters, a divot tool and divot tool pouch, a golf ball marker, a golfing tee and golfing tee loops.

More specifically, the present invention is a strokecounting and multifunctional golf glove having a glove comprising two rotatable, dial-like stroke counters having numerical indicators thereon, a divot pouch for carrying a divot tool therein, a golf ball marker and golfing tee loops for carrying a golfing tee therein.

A feature and advantage of the present invention is its ability to provide quick, accurate and consistent recordation of the number of strokes a golfer makes per hole.

A feature and advantage of the present invention is its ability to provide quick, accurate and consistent recordation of the number of strokes a golfer's opponent(s) makes per hole.

A feature and advantage of the present invention is its ability to provide stroke count recordation as well as keep track of what hole the golfer is presently playing.

A feature and advantage of the present invention is its ability to provide a readily accessible divot tool.

A feature and advantage of the present invention is its ability to provide a readily accessible golf ball marker.

A feature and advantage of the present invention is its ability to provide a readily accessible golfing tee.

A feature and advantage of the invention is its ability to be used by both amateur and expert golfers with ease.

A feature and advantage of the present invention is its portability.

A feature and advantage of the present invention is its ability to be stored away with ease.

These and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent to one skilled in the art from the following description and claims when read in light of the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED AND ALTERNATIVE EMBODIMENTS

In describing the preferred and alternate embodiments of the present invention, as illustrated in FIGS. [0025] 1-5, specific terminology is employed for the sake of clarity. The invention, however, is not intended to be limited to the specific terminology so selected, and it is to be understood that each specific element includes all technical equivalents that operate in a similar manner to accomplish similar functions.
Referring now to FIGS. [0026] 1-4, the present invention in its preferred embodiment is a stroke-counting and multifunctional golf glove 10 generally comprising a glove 20, stroke counters 40 and 50, divot tool 60, golfing tee 70 and golf ball marker 80.
Specifically, [0027] glove 20 has a back side 22 and a palm side 24. Back side 22 preferably comprises loops 25 and 26 for snuggly receiving golfing tee 70 and are positioned preferably proximal pinky-finger side 23 of glove 20. Although loops 25 and 26 are designed to accommodate one golfing tee 70, it is contemplated in an alternate embodiment that loops 25 and 26 may be designed to carry more than one golfing tee 70 or that additional loops may be provided.
Preferably proximal to [0028] cuff side 21 of back side 22 is golf ball marker 80, wherein golf ball marker 80 is removably secured thereto via any means known within the art such as, for exemplary purposes only, a snap-button mechanism or hook-and-loop fasteners. Although cuff side 21 preferably carries one golf ball marker 80, it is contemplated in an alternate embodiment that cuff side 21 could carry more than one golf ball marker 80 or that golf ball marker 80 may be positioned at other locations on glove 20.
As best seen in FIG.[0029] 3, back side 22 further comprises flap 30, wherein flap 30 is preferably used to tighten glove 20 around a wearer's wrist preferably via hook-and-loop loop fasteners 32 carried by underside 33 of flap 30 and cuff side 36 of back side 22. Although hook-and-loop fasteners 32 are the preferred tightening mechanisms, it is recognized that other alternate embodiments can be utilized, such as, for exemplary purposes only, straps and buckles and snap-button mechanisms. Underside 33 further defines pouch 34, wherein pouch 34 is dimensioned to preferably carry divot tool 60.
Now referring more specifically to FIGS. 1 and 4, [0030] flap 30 further comprises topside 35, wherein topside 35 preferably carries stroke counters 40 and 50. Stroke counters 40 and 50 are preferably rotatable dials and possess faces 42 and 52, respectively, wherein faces 42 and 52 have numerical indicators and pointers 44 and 54, respectively, thereon. For each stroke taken by the golfer on the hole being played, the golfer preferably rotatably advances stroke counter 40 so that a number representative of the stroke count is aligned with pointer 44. Likewise, if a golfer is keeping track of his/her opponent's stroke count on the hole being played, a golfer would preferably rotatably advance stroke counter 50 so that a number representative of the stroke count is aligned with pointer 54. Although two stroke counters 40 and 50 are the preferred number of stroke counters, it is contemplated in an alternate embodiment that more than two stroke counters can be utilized. Stroke counters 40 and 50 are removably secured to flap 30 via any means known within the art such as, for exemplary purposes only, hook-and-loop fasteners or snap- button mechanisms 41 and 51, wherein the male ends 43 and 53 of snap- button mechanisms 41 and 51, respectively, are embedded within flap 30 and the female ends 45 and 55 of snap- button mechanisms 41 and 51, respectively, are carried by stroke counters 40 and 50, respectively for securing to male ends 43 and 53 respectively.
Referring now to FIG. 5, it is contemplated in an alternate embodiment that [0031] topside 35 of flap 30 could have a hole counter 100, wherein hole counter 100 is preferably a rotatable dial and possesses face 102, wherein face 102 would have thereon a pointer 104 and numerical indicators, preferably numbers one through eighteen to represent the number of holes on a golf course. For each hole played or being played by the golfer, the golfer would rotatably advance hole counter 100 so that a number representative of the hole played or being played is aligned with pointer 104.
In another alternate embodiment, [0032] stroke counters 40 and 50 could be digital mechanisms, wherein buttons would be used to advance or decrease a number displayed on an LCD screen.
Having thus described exemplary embodiments of the present invention, it should be noted by those skilled in the art that the within disclosures are exemplary only, and that various other alternatives, adaptations, and modifications may be made within the scope of the present invention. Accordingly, the present invention is not limited to the specific embodiments illustrated herein, but is limited only by the following claim. [0033]

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove, comprising:

at least one stroke counter carried by said golf glove and attached thereto via a first attachment means.

2. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 1 further comprising at least one loop, wherein said at least one loop is dimensioned for receiving at least one golfing tee.

3. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 1 further comprising a golf ball marker removably attached to said golf glove via a second attachment means.

4. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 1 further comprising a divot tool pouch formed in said glove, said divot tool pouch dimensioned for receiving a divot tool.

5. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 1, wherein said at least one stroke counter is a dial.

6. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 5, wherein said at least one stroke counter is rotatable to allow for the forward or reverse advancement of said at least one stroke counter.

7. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 6, wherein said at least one stroke counter has numerical indicators and a pointer marked thereon, wherein said numerical indicators denote the number of strokes taken per hole, and wherein said at least one stroke counter is rotatably advanceable in either a forward or reverse direction so that said pointer is aligned with a number representative of the stroke count.

8. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 1 further comprising a fastening flap, wherein said at least one stroke counter is positioned on and removably attached via said first attachment means to said fastening flap.

9. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 1, wherein said first attachment means is hook-and-loop fastener.

10. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 1, wherein said first attachment means is at least one snap-button fastener.

11. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 3, wherein said golf ball marker is removably attached to said golf glove via said second attachment means, wherein said second attachment means is hook-and-loop fastener.

12. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 3, wherein said golf ball marker is removably attached to said golf glove via second attachment means, wherein said second attachment means is at least one snap-button fastener.

13. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 4, wherein said divot tool pouch is positioned on the underside of the closure or fastening flap or cuff of said golf glove.

14. A stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove, comprising:

at least one stroke counter carried by said glove;

at least one loop carried by said glove and dimensioned for receiving at least one golfing tee;

at least one golf ball marker carried by and removably attached to said glove; and

a divot tool pouch formed on said glove and dimensioned for carrying a divot tool.

15. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 14 further comprising at least one hole counter removably attached to said glove.

16. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 14, wherein said at least one stroke counter is a dial.

17. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 14, wherein said at least one stroke counter is rotatable to allow for the forward or reverse advancement of said at least one stroke counter.

18. The stroke counting and multifunctional golf glove of claim 17, wherein said at least one stroke counter has numerical indicators and a pointer marked thereon, wherein said numerical indicators denote the number of strokes made, and wherein said at least one stroke counter is rotatably advanceable in either a forward or reverse direction so that said pointer is aligned with a number representative of the stroke count.

19. A method of keeping stroke count in the game of golf, comprising the steps of:

a. obtaining a golf glove comprising at least one advanceable stroke counter carried thereon; and

b. advancing said at least one advanceable stroke counter to indicate the number of strokes.
