2 Claims.
Our invention relates to improvements in toothbrush spoons, and the object of the invention is to combine a spoon adaptable for measuring with a toilet article such as a toothbrush so that a spoon will always be conveniently at hand for use in the bathroom, which when laid on a table or other supporting surface will lie absolutely level in a stable position so that there will be no danger of spilling as the spoon is filled thus leaving both hands free for handling the bottle or other container out of which a liquid or powdered material is poured into the spoon and eliminating the danger of spilling onto the oor and staining or otherwise impairing the floor or carpet. The spoon will always form an exact measure particularly Valuable for medicinal purposes such as a spoon or half spoon,` which will easily enter the mouth of a bottle containing salt or powder; which will not erode or corrode; which will present no sharp edges; will be easily cleaned and will not interfere with the use or hanging or care of the article with which it is combined, and it consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as hereinafter more particularly explained.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a toothbrush with our measuring spoon combined therewith.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the toothbrush and spoon.
In the drawing like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
I indicates the head of a toothbrush from which extends the handle 2. `The opposite end of. the handle is enlarged at 3, such enlargement being so shaped that when the brush head and enlargement rest upon a horizontal supporting surface the upper face of the enlargement will be parallel with such surface. The enlargement 3 is provided on its upper level face with a recess 4 corresponding to the bowl of a spoon, the sides and inner end being preferably vertical and the outer inclined outward so that the contents of the spoon may be readily poured.
when the bow1 of the spoon is sued 1eve1 as may readily be done by reason of its being indehands left free for lllng the spoon, an accurate measure will be provided, that is a teaspoon or half teaspoon according to the size of. the recess 4. Being made of the same material as the toothbrush handle, it may be readily cleaned, will not 5 erode or corrode, may be hung as an ordinary toothbrush is hung, is so shaped as will permit the contents being easily poured therefrom, will always be ready for use and cannot easily be misplaced.
What we claim as our invention is:-
1. A medicine spoon comprising a spoon bowl having a permanently open top and formed with a substantially vertical inner end Wall, an outwardly inclined outer end wall extending to a transverse discharge edge, and parallel vertical sides, the upper edges of said sides and end walls lying in a common plane and cooperating to guide contents of the bowl and prevent said contents from spreading laterally when discharging over the upper edge of said outwardly inclined end wall, and a handle the bottom of which is on a level with the bottom of said bowl and ofV a greater width than the same so as to prevent lateral tilting of the bowl when the spoon is set down.
2. A medicine spoon formed on the end of. a toothbrush handle, said spoon comprising a spoon bowl having a permanently open top and formed with a substantially vertical inner end wall, an
outwardly inclined outer end wall extending to a transverse discharge edge, and parallel vertical sides, the upper edges of said sides and end walls lying in a common plane and cooperating to guide contents of the bowl and prevent said contents from spreading laterally when discharging over the upper edge of said outwardly inclined end wall, the other end of said handle being on a level with the bottom of said bowl and being of a greater width than the same so as to prevent lateral tilting of said bowl when the spoon is set down.
