Application April za, 1941, serial No. 390,016 1 claim. (Cl. 20a-38) The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in pencils and has for its primary object to provide a mechanical feed pencil havig a plurality of compartments formed therein adapted for receiving various articles necessary .for' rendering rst aid, such as bandages, antitails of construction as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the ,accompanying drawing ,forming part hereof,
wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout,'and in which y Figure 1 is a side elevational view,
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken .substantially on a line 2-2 of Figure 1,
Figure 3 is an end elevational view,- Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view taken substantially on a line 4--4 of Figure 1, and
Figure 5 is a fragmentary longitudinal sectional View showing a modied form of connecting the compartment sections.
Referring now to the drawing ingdetail, and with particularreference to Figures 1 to 4 inclusive, the' numeral 5 designates the barrel of the pencil-.generally which is composed of an upper section 6,-ia plurality of intermediate sections 'I and 'a lower section 8.
Each of the sections is of hollow construction closed at one end to form a chamber therein, the lower section 8 having its closed end tapering as shown at 9 and formed with aninternal, upwardy ly extending tubular housing III which is closed at its upper end and communicates with a passage Il'in which the spiral feed member I2 of a mechanical pencil I3 is positioned, the mechanical feed pencil being of conventional construction and adapted for operation by a conical cap Il positioned at the lower end of the section 8. The
interior of the section 8 is adapted to contain. a supply of lead I5. v
The upper open end of the section 8 is internally `threaded and adapted for threadedly receiving the externally threaded reduced lower end I6 of one of the intermediate sections l. The intermediate section'is closed at its bottom and adapted to contain bandages I'I and the upper open end of the lower intermediate section 'I is threadedly connected to the lower end of the upper intermediate section in` a'similar manner. The upper intermediate section I isadapted-to contain tabletsindicated at I8 or other medicinal preparations.
The upper section 6 is provided with a reduced extension I9 at its lower end, likewise threadedly engaged `4in the open end of the section 'I-, the inner end of the section 6 being closed and having a. threaded neck 20 at its outer end adapted for threadedly receiving a cap 2|. The section 6 is adapted to contain iodine or Vother antiseptic solution and projecting downwardly from the cap 2l is an applicator 22. i
The cap 2| has an eraser 23 fitted therein and also serves .to secure a clip 2l about the neck 2l.
In the formof the invention illustrated in Figure 5 the external threads on the reduced lower end of the sections 25 are omitted, the extension having a snug telescopic t in the open end of the adjacent section. A
The several sections forming the kit may be constructed of any suitable material and the several compartments may -be utilized for carrying any desired medical supplies.
It is believed the details of construction,v ad.
vantages and manner of use ofthe device will be readily understood from the foregoing without furtherl detailed explanation.
What we claim is: Y
A container comprising a barrel formed of a plurality of detachable hollow cylindrical sections, said sections including an end section having an externally threaded neck at its outer end,
a. cap threaded on said neck, 'and a clip having a ring at one end threaded on said under the CBP.
