Description
s. B; JENKrNs Dec. 16, 1947.
CONTAINER Filed NQv. 23, 1944 Patented Dec. 16, 1947 AUNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CONTAINER Stanley B. Jenkins, Boston, Mass.
Application November 23, 1944, Serial No. 564,874
1 claim. l
My present invention relates to containers and more particularly to a combination container for toilet articles suchas tooth powder and a tooth brush.
The principal object of my invention is an im` proved combination container;
Another object is a combination container having two or more compartments having a com mon swivel cover;
Still another object is a combination container having a common swivel cover which is connected to a removable top member which acts as a tight cover to one of said compartments when the said cover is in a closed position, and
Other objects and novel features comprising the construction and operation of my invention will be apparent as the description of the same progresses.
In the drawings illustrating the preferred embodiment of my invention:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the container;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof, and
Fig. 3 is a cross-section taken on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Referring more in detail to the drawings, I indicates the main compartment of the container and II indicates a second compartment. Both compartments I0 and II are preferably to register with the opening I1 so that powder or other contents located in the compartment I0 may be shaken out. Also the pivoted portion of the cover I4a. closes the top of the opening to the made as a single unit, such as a plastic molding.
Compartment I0 is designed to hold tooth powder while compartment II may be used to hold a tooth brush. It will be noted that compartment Il is ventilated at the top by means of the openings l2 and at the bottom by the openings I3, the said openings making it possible for air to circulate up around any article in the compartment II, as the case may be. At I4 I have indicated a cover portion which is composed of a cylindrical portion I5 which fits snugly in the upper open end of the compartment I0. Pivoted by means of the screw I6 to the top surface of the portion I5 of the cover I4 is an upper portion Illa of the cover. Also located in the por- 'tion I5 is .an-opening I'I which is designed to be closed when the pivoted portion I4a of the cover I4 is in the positions shown in Figs. 1 and 3 but when the pivoted portion Ida is swung around to the proper position the opening I8 may be made compartment II when the cover is in the closed position, as shown in the drawings.
The entire top cover member comprising I4, Illa and I5 may be drawn up out of the compartment Il) when it is desired to open this compartment to rell the container or for other purposes.
It is also quite apparent that while I have de scribed the container for use with tooth powder and a tooth brush yet any other suitable articles may be substituted therefor and still be covered in the spirit of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as neW is:
An improved dispenser container for tooth brushes and tooth powder comprising a unitary casing separately housing said tooth brushes and said tooth powder, a removable closure member located in the upper end of the powder portion of the casing, an outlet port located in said closure, an upper swivel cover member pivoted to said closure and having an outlet port, said swivel cover having an extensionportion covering the top of said tooth brush portion of said casing, the outlet ports on said closure and said swivel cover being out of register when the said tooth brush portion of said casing is closed, means for Ventilating said tooth brush portion of said cas- STANLEY B.
