Application September 27, 1946, Serial No. 699,929
1 Claim.
The present invention relates to shaving brushes and is more particularly concerned with a brush of the fountain type.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a brush of the character referred to wherein novel means are employed to feed a suitable mixture of shaving paste and water to the brush bristles and thereby increase the speed, comfort and cleanliness of producing a shaving lather.
Another object of the invention is to provide a simpler and more durable device of the character referred to than prior devices.
A further object of the invention is to provide a simple device of the character referred to which can be manufactured at a low cost.
With the foregoing and other objects and advantages in view the invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device,
Figure 2 is a longitudinal section on the line 2 2 of Figure 1.
Like numerals, as used in the drawings and following description, designate the same parts of construction.
I is a hollow annular brush head which bears the bristles II. The bottom I2 in which the bristles are secured is provided centrally with a round aperture I3 on the exterior of which is a boss I4. Shaving paste is put inside the head.
The interior wall of the brush head is threaded for reception of a threaded follower disc I5 which serves to discharge the shaving paste from the head to the center of the bristles. This disc is provided centrally with a round aperture in which is mounted an elongated neck or nip-ple I6 of a rubber hot-water syringe I1. The lower end of the nipple depends in the aperture of the bottom I2 but is suitably spaced circumferentially to allow the paste to pass through to the bristles with an admixture of hot water.
The syringe is provided at the top with an ln- 2 take valve I8 and at the base of the neck or nipple with an outlet valve I9.
Mounted on the rotatable follower I5 is a metallic yoke 20 in the arch of which is secured a protruding part 2I on the syringe which contains the hot water intake. This yoke serves as a handle for the brush and also to turn the follower I5 down when an emission of shaving paste is desired. While the yoke is being held the exposed body of the syringe can be compressed by the fingers.
What I claim is:
A shaving brush comprising a hollow head having an open top for the reception of a paste therein, bristles depending from the bottom of said head, a disc follower closing the open top of said head and mounted for rotatable movement toward and away from said bottom, said follower and bottom being each provided with co-aXial apertures, a yoke projecting from the top of said follower and carried by the latter, and a collapsible syringe having an elongated neck mounted in said yoke, said neck extending through the aperture in said follower and into the aperture in said bottom and having its end of a diameter less than that of the aperture in said bottom so as to provide a space between the neck and sides of the latter aperture for the discharge of paste therethrough from said reservoir onto said bristles.
