Description

1951 c. R. BUCKNER HOLDER FOR TOOTHBRUSHES AND PASTE TUBES Filed Dec. 26, 1947 IN VENTOR C R. BUCKNER ATTORNEY Patented Oct. 23, 1951 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE HOLDER FOR TOOTHBRUSHES AND PASTE TUBES This invention relates generally to dental devices and particularly to a holder for tooth brush and paste tube.
The main object of this invention is to provide a sanitary, inexpensive and convenient holder for a tooth brush and paste tube in which the bristle end of the brush is shielded from dust and contact with other objects and into which the brush may easily be inserted and. withdrawn.
A further object is to provide a convenient support for the paste tube as well as affording a convenient holder for the tube cap.
I accomplish these and other objects in the manner set forth in the following specification as illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of the holder.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the holder.
Fig. 3 is a bottom view of the holder.
Fig. 4 is a section taken along the line 4-4 in Fig. 1.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the holder showing a portion broken away in section.
Like members of reference refer to the same or similar parts throughout the several views.
Referring in detail to the drawing there is shown a back plate provided with openings H for screws or nails used for fastening the holder to a support.
Projecting from the plate In are the side walls l2 which extend to the vertical front wall [3 which is tangential with the curved top side [4.
Between the sides l2 and near the bottom end I5 of the holder is disposed the inclined brush supporting plate [6 having a V shaped notch l1 formed in the upper end thereof.
The notch I'I forms a resting place for the lowermost bristles [8 of a toothbrush l9 which can be inserted upwardly between the sides l2 and between the plate [6 and front wall l3.
The V shaped notch 11 centers the brush l9 and holds it away from the sides l2.
On the lower ends of the back plate I0 and the inclined plate [6 are formed the inturned flanges 20 and 2|.
Adjacent edges 22 of the flanges 20 and 2| are spaced apart sufficiently to permit a free entrance of the cap body 23 of the paste tube 24 while the knurled or flat-sided cap head 25 rests upon the flanges 29 and 2 I. In order to gain entrance to the holder there is provided a T slot opening 26 in one side I2 which is sufliciently large to permit the cap body 23 and head 25 to pass therethrough.
It can be seen from the foregoing that I have provided a sanitary, convenient and inexpensive form of holder which takes care of both the toothbrush and paste tube holder at the same time.
I claim:
A holder for a tooth brush and paste tube consisting of a flat, inverted, open container having means for fixing same to a support with its open end lowermost, said open end having an inclined shelf extending transversely across the middle of the open end, the upper edge of said shelf having a brush engaging notch, the lower end of said shelf forming part of a paste tube support and the adjacent container wall having a horizontal flange opposite the lower shelf end forming the second tube support, the side of said container having a T slot therein adapted to admit a tube cap horizontally into said container while said shelf requires a brush to be moved vertically into and out of said container.
CLARENCE R. BUCKNER.
