s Claims. (ci. .sn-206)` This invention relates to toilet articles particularly of the type adapted to` be used on a wall in a bathroom, and inparticular asectional tooth brush holder wherein a plurality of tooth brushes are retained in individual compartments and whereinl each compartment is adapted to contain a disinfectant, and is adapted to` be opened and closed independently.
The purpose of this invention is to prevent contamination of tooth brushes particularly by dust, insects, and the like.
Various types of tooth brush racks and cabinets have been provided for use in bathrooms and the like and although some cabinets are designed to hold a plurality of` tooth brushes the tooth brushes remaining in the cabinet are exposed as one` tooth brush is withdrawn or replaced. Furthermore, in numerous types of cabinets for this use all tooth brushes remaining in the cabinet are exposed and` subject to contamination while one tooth brush is `being used. With this thought in mind this invention. contemplates a rack having a plurality of individual compartments with doors of the compartments adapted. to be independently opened and closed and in which tooth brushes remaining in the rack are protected from the elements as one tooth brush is` removed, used, and replaced.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for forming aitoothbrush holder wherein one tooth brush may be removed and replaced in the holder without exposing other tooth brushes positioned in the holder.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved tooth brush holder that is adapted to be sterilized.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved tooth brush holder having a plurality of individual tooth brush compartments therein in which the holder is of a simple and economical construction.
, With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies a tooth brush holder including a back having mounting tabs extended therefrom with spaced vertically disposed partitions extended outwardly, with doors pivotally mounted on the back and positioned between the partitions, and with covers also pivotally mounted on the back and adapted to engage the upper ends of the doors for retaining the doors in closed positions.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawing, wherein:
Figure l is a front elevational view illustrating the improved tooth brush rack.
Figure 2 is a cross section through the rack taken on line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Figure 3 is a plan view looking downwardly upon the upper end of the rack.
Figure 4 is a sectional plan taken on line 4--4 of Fig. 1 showing the individual compartments and the doors pivotally mounted between the partitions extended from the back.

` the partitions and end walls extending outwardly from the back, and covers 16 also positioned between the partitions and end walls and pivotally mounted on a bolt 17, said `covers having recesses 18 in undersurfaces thereof into which upper ends 19 of the doors extend whereby latching means is provided for retaining the doors in closed positions.
As illustrated in Fig. l tabs 20 and 21 having slots 22 and 23 in lower edges thereof extend from the edges of the back and a similar tab 24 having a notch 25 therein extends from the lower end.
As` illustrated in Fig. 2` the lower edge of the back 10 is provided with a` ledge 26, which extends continuously between the partitions 13 and end walls 14 and 15'and the outer faces of the sections of the ledge between the partitions and end walls are` provided with pads 27, preferably of elastic material, such as rubber. The doors 11 are provided with hubs 28 through which the bolt 12 extends and shoulders 29 extended downwardly from the hubs are positioned to engage the pads 27 to limit outward movement of the doors.
The upper portions of the doors are provided with thumb and linger gripping webs or handles 30 which are spaced from the upper ends and which` are positioned to facilitate withdrawing the doors from the position shown in full lines in Figure 2 to the position shown in broken lines, in which position tooth brushes, as indicated by the numeral 31 may readily be withdrawn from the compartments.
The handles 30 are provided with cavities, as indicated by the numeral 3, and in which disinfectant tablets may be placed for purifying the air in the compartments.
The covers 16 are also provided with hubs, as indicated by the numeral 32 and a projection 33 extended down.- wardly from each of the hubs 32 is positioned to engage a resilient pad 34 positioned on the upper edge of the back 10, also as shown in Fig. 2.
The bolt 12 is provided with a head 35 under which is a washer 36 and the opposite end, which is threaded, is provided with a nut 37 and a washer 38.
The bolt 17 is also provided with a head, as indicated by the numeral 39 and a washer 40 is provided under the head. The opposite threaded end of the bolt is provided with a nut 41 and a washer 42.
Each of the doors 11 is provided with side walls or flanges 43 and 44 whereby the tooth brushes are retained in substantially enclosed compartments until they are removed by hand.
The upper inner corners of the partitions 13 are provided with recesses 45 formed by the arcuate surfaces forming the upper edges of the partitions.
With the parts designed and assembled in this manner an improved tooth brush rack is provided wherein each tooth brush is retained in a substantially enclosed compartment until it is withdrawn for use and as one tooth brush is withdrawn other tooth brushes in the device remain in substantially enclosed areas.
With the device formed of glazed porcelain it may readily be sterilized, however, it will be'understood that the device may be made of other suitable material, and with each door and its corresponding cover, of a different color, or provided with other distinguishing means, the ownership of each toothbrush may be indicated so that it will not be necessary to look at the different brushes to select a brush for use.
It will be understood that modifications, within the scope `of the appended claims, may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:

A tooth brush holder comprising a back plate havin'glvertically disposed end walls and spaced intermediate partitions integral at one edge with the back plate and eX- tended outwardly therefrom, doors positioned between the partitions and end walls, a hub on the lower end of Ieach door, and a shaft extending transversely of said holder and receiving said hubs for pivotally mounting the doors on the back plate, covers positioned between the partitions and walls and overlapping the upper ends of the doors, a hub on each cover and a second shaft extending transversely of said holder and receiving the hubs on said covers for pivotally mounting the covers on the back plate.
2. A tooth brush holder comprising a back plate having vertically disposed end walls and spaced intermediate partitions integral at one edge with the back plate and extended outwardly therefrom, doors positioned between the partitions and end walls, a hub on the lower end of each door, and a shaft extending transversely of said holder and receiving said hubs for pivotally mounting the doors on the back plate, covers positioned between `the partitions and walls and overlapping the upper ends of the doors, a hub on each cover and a second shaft extending transversely of said holder and receiving the hubs on said covers for pivotally mounting the covers on the back plate, said covers being formed to retain the doors in closed positions.
` 3.` A tooth brush holder comprising a back plate having vertically disposed end walls and spaced intermediate partitions integral at one edge with the back plate and extended outwardly therefrom, doors positioned between the partitions and end walls, a hub on the lower end of each door, and a shaft extending transversely of said holder and receiving said hubs for pivotally mounting the doors on the backplate, covers positioned between partitions and walls and overlapping the upper ends of the doors, a hub on each cover and a second shaft eX- tending transversely of said holder and receiving the hubs on said covers for pivotally mounting the covers on the back plate, said covers being formed to retain the doors in closed positions, and said doors having handles extended therefrom.

A tooth brush holderl comprising a back plate having vertically disposed end walls and spaced intermediate partitions integral at one edge with the back plate and extended outwardly therefrom, doors positioned between the partitions and end walls, a hub on the lower end of each door, and a shaft extending transversely of said holder and receiving said hubs for pivotally mounting the doors on the back plate, covers positioned between the partitions and walls and overlapping the upper ends of the doors, a hub on each cover and a second shaft extending transversely of said holder and receiving the hubs on said covers for pivotally mounting the covers on the back plate, said covers being formed to retain the doors in closed positions, and resilient pads for limiting the closing movements of the covers and opening movements of the doors.

A tooth brush holder comprising a back plate having vertically disposed end walls and spaced intermediate partitions integral at one edge with the back plate and extended outwardly therefrom, doors positioned between the partitions and end walls, a hub on the lower end of each door, and a shaft extending transversely of said holder and receiving said hubs for pivotally mounting the doors on the back plate, covers positioned between the partitions and walls and overlapping the upper ends of the doors, a hub on each cover and a second shaftl extending transversely of said holder and receiving the hubs on said covers for pivotally mounting the covers on the back plate, said covers being formed to retain the doors in closed positions, and resilient pads for limiting the closing movements of the covers and opening movements of the doors, said back plate having mounting tabs with slots in the lower edges extended therefrom.
