(Cl. 273-54) The present invention generally relates to a glove for bowlers having many variations having a projection received in a special socket in the bowling ball.

The primary object of the present invention is to provide a glove for bowlers having a wrist encircling strap and a main body portion extending along the fingers of a person using the device together with a projecting member adapted to be inserted into a special socket in a bowling ball.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a glove device for use by a person when bowling having many variations and enables a ball to be thrown with only the thumb inserted into a socket in the bowling ball with the device being constructed in many various forms.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a bowlers glove which is simple in construction, efficient in use, long lasting and generally inexpensive to manufacture.

These together with other object and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Referring now specifically to the drawings, numeral 10 generally designates a glove for use by bowlers when throwing a bowling ball as shown in FIGURES 1-4. The bowling ball 12 has a socket 14 for the thumb l6 and an insert 18 is disposed in the surface of the bowling ball 12 by drilling a socket and inserting the cylindrical insert 18 therein.

The glove 10 include-s an elongated body 20 extending along the palm surface 22 of the hand 24. One end of the body 20 includes a wrist strap 26 for encircling the wrist 28 of the bowler. The ends of the wrist strap 26 are ice adjustably interconnected by a buckle 30 engaged with one of a series of apertures 32. The other end of the body 20 is less in width and extends under the fingers 34 and the wrist engaging portion thereof ldefines a thumb receiving opening 36 and a finger strap 38 extends across the narrow portion of the body 20.

The narrow portion of the body 20 includes a mounting plate 40 having a reversely curved edge 42 at the tip end thereof. The curved edge 42 receives a swivel book 44 to which is attached a short flexible chain 46 having an end circular loop 48 connected to a projection or finger 50 of substantially cylindrical configuration for reception in the insert 18. The loop 48 is spaced inwardly from the outer end of the finger 50 and is pivotal in relation thereto.

FIGURE 5 illustrates a modified form of mounting means which includes a substantially U-shaped frame 52 conforming to the periphery of the body 20 and anchored to the body 20 in any suitable manner. The bight portion of the frame 52 has an ofiset central portion 54 connected to a flexible link 56 for attaching the finger so to the frame 52.

The forms of the glove illustrated in FIGURES 611 all employ the same basic structure with only the size, configuration and orientation of the body varying. In FIGURE 6, the body 26 is wider under the fingers and the strap 58 bridges three or four fingers. Also, the wrist strap does not define any separate thumb opening.

In FIGURE 7, a partition member 60 is attached to the body 20 and extends upwardly between the fingers longitudinally for connection with the wrist strap. In FIGURE 8 a pair of separate loops 62 are attached to the body 20.

FIGURE 9 discloses a very narrow body 20 adapted to extend between adjacent fingers with finger loops 64 being provided at each side edge of the body 20. FIG- URE 10 shows a single finger loop 66 on the body 24) while FIGURE 11 illustrates a double finger loop as.

The particular construction of the loop 48 prevents the finger '01- pin 50 from rotating but still enables limited swinging movement thus enabling the finger 50 to be pulled out by exerting outward force on the glove. The body, wrist strap and the components of the glove other than the mounting means may be constructed of leather. The mounting plate may be removably disposed in a pocket 70 under the body 2%) for replacement or change to other arrangements. This device is especially useful for use by any person having stub fingers or anyone with missing fingers or with any .type of hand trouble whereby the finger 50 will simulate the action and function of an actual finger when bowling.

The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed as new is as follows:
