Abstract

A toothbrush which can be thrown away after a single use. The toothbrush carries its own supply of paste which is discharged onto the bristles for use by rotating the handle. Pastedischarging holes communicating between a supply chamber and an outer surface increase progressively in diameter size in a direction away from the handle to obtain uniform past distribution on the bristles.

INVENTOR.
JOHN B. MANUEL msrosssu: 'roornaavsn SUMMARY orrnamvamron The toothbrush comprises a bristle bearing head with a threaded recess into which a threaded end of a handle extends. The handle is rotatable and when rotated. its threadend can be advanced further into the recess. The recess communicates with a chamber in the'head filled with paste and connected by openings to the bristles. As the head is rotated and its end is advanced in the recess. the end pushes the past out of the openings and onto the bristles for use. The toothbrush can then be thrown away.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE. DRAWINGS In the drawings: 4 I FIG. I is a perspective top view of my invention; FIG. 2 is a side view thereof;
FIG. is a bottom view thereof; and FIG. 4 is a cross section taken through 4-4 in FIG. 2.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring now to FIGS. 1-4, a head has bristles I2 extending out of one surface thereof. This surface carries three use. The structure can be thrown away after use.
. The diameter of the holes is varied because of the pressure drop, the differential pressure between opposite sides of each hole increasing as the area of the hole decreases whereby the same amount of paste flows through each hole and the paste is unifonnly distributed for use.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope. g
Having thus described this invention what I assert as new is:
I. A disposable toothbrush comprising:
a head having a hollow chamber with holes communicating between the chamber and an outer surface, said chamber containing cleaning paste; bristles secured to and extending away from said surface;
a handle secured to said head and rotatable about its axis;
and
means responsive to rotation of said handle to force said past out of said holes and onto said bristles, wherein said holes are spaced along a line and change progressively in diameter size, the area of any hole increasing as the differential pressure thereacross for forcing paste therethrough decreases and the amount of paste flowing out of each hole is essentially the same to obtain uniform paste distribution on the bristles.
2. A toothbrush as set forth in claim 1 wherein said means includes a bore communicating with said chamber and accommodating one end of said handle, said handle when rotated having said one end advanced in the bore to bear against the paste and force it out.
3. A toothbrush as set forth in claim 2 wherein said bore is threaded and said one end is also threaded and engages said bore. 1

Claims (3)

1. A disposable toothbrush comprising: A HEAD HAVING A HOLLOW CHAMBER WITH HOLES COMMUNICATING BETWEEN THE CHAMBER AND AN OUTER SURFACE, SAID CHAMBER CONTAINING CLEANING PASTE; BRISTLES SECURED TO AND EXTENDING AWAY FROM SAID SURFACE; A HANDLE SECURED TO SAID HEAD AND ROTATABLE ABOUT ITS AXIS; AND MEANS RESPONSIVE TO ROTATION OF SAID HANDLE TO FORCE SAID PAST OUT OF SAID HOLES AND ONTO SAID BRISTLES, WHEREIN SAID HOLES ARE SPACED ALONG A LINE AND CHANGE PROGRESSIVELY IN DIAMETER SIZE, THE AREA OF ANY HOLE INCREASING AS THE DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE THEREACROSS FOR FORCING PASTE THERETHROUGH DECREASES AND THE AMOUNT OF PASTE FLOWING OUT OF EACH HOLE IS ESSENTIALLY THE SAME TO OBTAIN UNIFORM PASTE DISTRIBUTION ON THE BRISTLES.
