SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 518,027, dated April 10,1894.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, CHARLES H. ENGLISH, a cltizen of the United States, residing at Washlngton, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger-Protectors; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to finger protectors. The object of my invention is to so construct a guard for the end of the finger that the impact of the blow, incident to striking.

the keys of typewriters, 850., will not be received on the end of the finger atall; and the invention consists of a tip adapted to fit on the end of the finger, said tip being corrugated on the inside said corrugations being broken alternately with respect to each other and between said corrugations there are small perforations for the purpose of admitting air which by means of thebroken corrugations is permitted to circulate very freely around the entire finger, thus allowing the blood to circulate freely and preventing numbness.

The end of the tip terminates in a hollow ball arranged as shown so that one of such corrugations shall overlap the space between two others. aare small perforations made in the tip between said corrugations to admit air. The tip terminates in a ball shaped body having a thickened portion as represented by the letter I) while the upper half I) lying within the tip is hollow.

From the foregoing it will readily be seen that when the tip is put on the end of the finger the corrugations form a space entirely around the finger in which air entering through the perforations a'may freely circulate, still another object of these corrugations is that they prevent the finger from being compressed entirely around, inasmuch as the finger is only compressed wherever said broken corrugations touch the finger; thus it will be seen that while the tip fits the finger tip While the finger end is protected by reason of its resting on the wall of the hollow portion b which, should the blow be very hard, will give to a certain degree.

It is evident that many slight changes and alterations may be made in the arrangement and construction of the tip, hence I would have it understood that I do not confine myself strictly to theconstruction herein shown.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A tip, to protect the finger end, provided on the inside with corrugations broken and overlapping each other alternately.

2. A tip to protect the finger end provided on the inside with corrugations broken and overlapping each other alternately and perforated between said corrugations, substantially as and for the purposes described.

3. A tip to protect'the finger end terminating in a hollow ball shaped body havinga thickened portion to receive the impact of a blow.

4. A tip to protect the finger end provided with corrugations, broken and overlapping each other alternately, perforations between said corrugations and a hollow ball shaped body having a thickened portion at the lower end, substantially as and for the purposes described.
