SHAVlNG-BRUSH CONTAINER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patentai April 23, 1907.
Application filed December 29,1906. Serial No. 349,989.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. SCHMIDT,
a citizen of the United States, residing at 1 Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of i Illinois, have invented a new and useful Shaving-Brush Container, of which the following IS a specification.
My invention relates to certain new and l useful Improvements 1n shaving brush con- 1 tainers, which is fully described and explained in the specification and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 Is a transverse section through my improved device, the shaving brush bemg shown In posltlon thereln; Fig. 2 1s a perspective view of the rubber gasket of the cover; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the outer ring of the cover.
Referring to the drawings, A is the body of my improved device, the same being composed preferably of glass or porcelain, although other material suitable for holding water may be used, said body being made in the form of a cup of sufficient size to serve as a shaving mug. The side walls of this cup are made low enough so as not to interfere with the free action of the brush within the cup, if such action of the brush be desired. The upper rim of the cup, A, is
screw threaded as illustrated in the drawings to receive an annular cover, B, preferably formed of sheet metal. The cover, B, carries a centrally perforated rubber gasket, 0, which is adapted to fit over and make a substantially tight fit around the handle of the shaving brush, D.
In my improved holder or container for shaving brushes, I not only provide a means by which the shaving brush can be conveniently carried from place to place by travelers, but I also provide a container one portion of which is suitable for use as a shavmg mug in the ordinary way, and I provide means also by which, when the brush is in place in the mug and the cover fitted to position, all dirt and germs are effectively excludedfrom the brush, so that absolute cleanliness is assured. My device will therefore be particularly advantageous in connection with private mugs which are in common use in barber shops and the like. 1 may add that I i particularly intend to use my improved conl tainer in connection with an antiseptic liquid soap of my manufacture, and when used with such soap or any other antiseptic soap it has l the greatest advantages, in that when the l brush is sealed up within the container as f illustrated, the soap, which can be left withl in the container, completely disinfccts the entire structure and the material of the 1 brush, thus preventing any of the common infections arising through shaving.
I realize that considerable variation is possible in the details of the construction. without departing from the spirit of my invention; therefore 1 do not intend to limit myself to the specific form herein shown and I described. l I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1 l 1. The combination with a suitable body 1 portion adapted to serve as a shaving mug, l of a cap therefor having a central perforal tion, and a centrally perforated gasket E mounted within the'pcrforation of said cap and adapted to surround the handle of a shaving brush, whereby air is excluded from the operative portion of the brush, when the cover is in place;
2. The combination with a body portion l adapted to serve as a shaving cup, of a screw cap ada ted to be secured to the upper edge of said ody portion, and a centrally perforated rubber gasket fixed in a central pcrforation in said cap, the perforation insaid rubber gasket being adapted to slip over and fit tightly the handle of a shaving brush, whereby air, dirt and germs are excluded from the body portion, which contains the operative portion of the brush.
GEORGE A. SCHMIDT. In presence of C. W. WASHBURNE, J. H. LANDES.
