Abstract
Description

Composition containing at least one particular soluble conditioning agent and at least one amphiphilic polymer The present invention relates to a composition for topical application, comprising at least one particular soluble conditioning agent and at least one amphiphilic polymer, and to its use in particular for the treatment and the care of human skin, scalp, mucous membranes, nails and hair. It is well known that hair which has been sensitized (i.e. damaged and/or weakened) to varying degrees under the action of atmospheric agents or under the action of mechanical or chemical treatments, such as coloring, bleaching and / or perms, are often difficult to detangle and style, and lack softness. It has already been recommended, in compositions for washing or caring for keratin materials such as the hair, the use of conditioning agents, in particular polymers, to facilitate disentangling of the hair and to impart softness and suppleness thereto. However, the cosmetic advantages mentioned above are unfortunately also accompanied, on dried hair, by certain cosmetic effects deemed undesirable, namely a heavier hairstyle (lack of lightness of the hair), a lack of straightening (non-uniform hair of root to tip). The conditioning agents must also be conveyed onto the treated keratin materials with a view to giving them, depending on the application, properties of softness, shine and detangling. Furthermore, crosslinked anionic copolymers comprising 2acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulphonic groups, such as the product marketed by the company SEPPIC under the name SEPIGEL 305 (consisting of units deriving from the reaction between (i) acrylamide, (ii) 2-acrylamido 2-methyl propane sulfonic acid and (iii) at least one olefinically polyunsaturated compound) do not make it possible to obtain compositions which distribute homogeneously and which have good rinsability and good deposition of the conditioning agent on keratin materials. In addition, if the use of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS) homopolymers, such as the product marketed by the company Cariant under the name Hostacerin AMPS, makes it possible to obtain the gelation of aqueous media while retaining good cosmetic properties, compared to other gelling agents available, the compositions are poorly distributed over the whole of the hair and are also difficult to rinse. There therefore remains the need for compositions containing conditioning agents and not having the disadvantages of the prior art. The applicant has unexpectedly found an amphiphilic polymer making it possible, on the one hand, to stabilize the compositions containing a particular soluble conditioning agent, in particular without causing the fluidification or thickening of the said compositions and, on the other hand, to obtain compositions easily on the hair, rinsing easily without leaving an unpleasant touch on the hair. Furthermore, the conditioning agent settles well on the hair. Also, the present invention relates to a composition for topical application, comprising an aqueous phase comprising at least one amphiphilic polymer comprising at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a sulphonic group, in free or partially or totally neutralized form and in addition at least one hydrophobic part and at least one soluble conditioning agent chosen from: I) non-crosslinked anionic polymers chosen from: a) methacrylic homo- or copolymers or their salts, copolymers of acrylic acid and acrylamide, the sodium salts of polyhydroxycarboxylic acids. b) Copolymers of acrylic or methacrylic acids with a monoethylenic monomer such as ethylene, styrene, vinyl esters, esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid, optionally grafted onto a polyalkylene glycol such as polyethylene glycol and optionally crosslinked. c) copolymers derived from crotonic acid such as those comprising vinyl acetate or propionate units in their chain and optionally other monomers such as allyl or methallyl esters, vinyl ether or vinyl ester of a linear or branched saturated carboxylic acid with a long hydrocarbon chain, such as those comprising at least 5 carbon atoms, these polymers optionally being able to be grafted and crosslinked or else a vinyl, allyl or methallyl ester of an a- or p-cyclic carboxylic acid. d) copolymers derived from monounsaturated C4-C8 carboxylic acids or anhydrides chosen from: copolymers comprising (i) one or more maleic, fumaric or itaconic acids or anhydrides and (ii) at least one monomer chosen from vinyl esters, vinyl halides, phenylvinyl derivatives, acrylic acid and its esters, the anhydride functions of these copolymers optionally being monoesterified or monoamidified - the copolymers comprising (i) one or more maleic, citraconic, itaconic anhydrides and (ii) one or more monomers chosen from allyl or methallyl esters optionally comprising one or more acrylamide, methacrylamide, α-olefin, acrylic esters or groups. methacrylic acids, acrylic or methacrylic acids or vinylpyrrolidone in their chain, the anhydride functions of these copolymers optionally being monoesterified or monoamidified. e) polyacrylamides containing carboxylate groups. f) polymers comprising vinylsulfonic, styrenesulfonic, naphthalenesulfonic units, 11) nonionic non-silicone polymers comprising neither sugar units nor vinylpyrrolidone units, ill) cationic polymers with the exception of copolymers of vinylpyrrolidone and methacrylate of dimethylaminoethyl quaternized with diethyl sulphate and copolymers of acrylamide and dimethylethylammonium chloride, IV) amphoteric polymers, V) cationic proteins, cationic protein hydrolysates and VI) cationic surfactants chosen from A) quaternary ammonium salts of the following general formula (XXI): EMI3.1 in which the radicals R1 to R4, which may be identical or different, represent an aliphatic radical, linear or branched, containing from 1 to 30 carbon atoms, or an aromatic aryl radical , aralkyl or alkylaryl, preferably C6-C20, provided that at least one of the radicals R1 to R4 is different from alkyl or aralkyl, the aliphatic radicals can contain heteroatoms, the aliphatic radicals are chosen from alkyl radicals , alkoxy, polyoxyalkylene (C2-C6), alkylamide, alkyl (Ct2-C22) amido alkyl (C3-C6), alkyl (Ct2-C22) acetate, hydroxyalkyl, comprising approximately 1 to 30 carbon atoms. X is an anion selected from the group of halides, phosphates, acetates, lactates, alkyl (C2-C6) sulfates, alkyl-or-alkylarylsulphonates. B) imidazoline derivatives C) quaternary diammonium salts D) quaternary ammonium salts containing at least one ester function. The compositions according to the invention preferably do not contain direct dyes of keratin fibers, oxidation dyes of keratin fibers, reducing agents and oxidizing agents. Since the composition of the invention is intended for topical application, it comprises a physiologically acceptable medium. In the present application, the term "physiologically acceptable medium" means a medium compatible with all keratin materials such as the skin, including the scalp, the nails, the mucous membranes, the eyes and the hair, or any other skin area of the body. The composition obtained has excellent stability and retains a satisfactory viscosity. Another object of the invention relates to the use of an amphiphilic polymer comprising at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a sulphonic group, in free or partially or totally neutralized form and comprising at least one hydrophobic part, in, or for the manufacture of a cosmetic composition comprising a particular soluble conditioning agent. The various objects of the invention will now be detailed. All of the meanings and definitions of the compounds used in the present invention given below are valid for all of the subjects of the invention. The composition obtained has the desired viscosity, that is to say generally greater than 0.5 poise, for example from 1 to 50 poise (0.1 to 5 Pa.s), and preferably from 5 to 25 poise. (0.5 to 2.5 Pa. s), said viscosity being measured at room temperature (approximately 25 C) with a Rhéomat 180 using a mobile 2,3,4 or 5 depending on the viscosity range , at 200 s-1. The composition of the invention can be an aqueous dispersion, an aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic gel, containing or not an oil, as well as a water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsion. The polymers in accordance with the invention are amphiphilic polymers comprising at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a sulphonic group, in free or partially or totally neutralized form and comprising at least one hydrophobic part. By amphiphilic polymer is meant any polymer comprising both a hydrophilic part and a hydrophobic part and in particular a fatty chain. The hydrophobic part present in the polymers of the invention preferably comprises from 6 to 50 carbon atoms, more preferably from 6 to 22 carbon atoms, even more preferably from 6 to 18 carbon atoms, and more particularly from 12 to 18 carbon atoms. Preferably, the polymers in accordance with the invention are partially or totally neutralized by an inorganic base (soda, potash, ammonia) or an organic base such as mono-, di- or tri-ethanolamine, an aminomethylpropanediol, N- methyl-glucamine, basic amino acids such as arginine and lysine, and mixtures of these compounds. The amphiphilic polymers in accordance with the invention generally have a number-average molecular weight ranging from 1,000 to 20,000,000 g/mole, preferably ranging from 20,000 to 5,000,000 and even more preferably from 100,000 to 1,500,000 g/ mole. The amphiphilic polymers according to the invention can be crosslinked or non-crosslinked. Preferably, crosslinked amphiphilic polymers are chosen. When they are crosslinked, the crosslinking agents can be chosen from polyolefinically unsaturated compounds commonly used for crosslinking polymers obtained by radical polymerization. Mention may be made, for example, of divinylbenzene, diallyl ether, dipropylene glycol diallyl ether, polyglycol-diallyl ethers, triethyleneglycol-divinyl ether, hydroquinone-diallyl-ether, di(meth)acrylate of ethylene glycol or tetraethylene glycol, trimethylol propane triacrylate, methylene-bis-acrylamide, methylene-bismethacrylamide, triallylamine, triallylcyanurate, diallyfmaleate, tetraallylethylenediamine, tetra-allyloxy-ethane, trimethylolpropane-diallyl ether, allyl (meth)acrylate, allyl ethers of alcohols of the sugar series, or other allyl-or vinyl-ethers of polyfunctional alcohols, as well as allyl esters of derivatives of phosphoric and/or vinylphosphonic acid, or mixtures of these compounds . Methylene-bis-acrylamide, allyl methacrylate or trimethylol propane triacrylate (TMPTA) will be used more particularly. The degree of crosslinking will generally vary from 0.01 to 10% by mole and more particularly from 0.2 to 2% by mole relative to the polymer. The ethylenically unsaturated monomers containing a sulfonic group are chosen in particular from vinylsulfonic acid, styrenesulfonic acid, (meth)acrylamido (C1-C22) alkylsulfonic acids, N-(CI-C22)alkyl (meth)acrylamido ( C1 C22) alkylsulphonics such as undecyl-acrylamido-methane-sulphonic acid as well as their. partially or totally neutralized forms. More preferably, (meth) acrylamido (C1-C22) alkylsulphonic acids such as, for example, acrylamido-methane-sulphonic acid, acrylamido-ethane-sulphonic acid, acrylamido-propane-sulphonic acid, 2 -acrylamido-2-methylpropane-sulfonic acid, methacrylamido-2-methylpropane-sulfonic acid, 2-acrylamido-n-butane-sulfonic acid, 2-acrylamido-2,4,4-trimethylpentane-sulfonic acid, 2-methacrylamido-dodecyl-sulphonic acid, 2-acrylamido-2,6-dimethyl-3-heptane sulphonic acid as well as their partially or totally neutralized forms. More particularly, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) as well as its partially or totally neutralized forms will be used. The amphiphilic polymers in accordance with the invention may in particular be chosen from random amphiphilic polymers of AMPS modified by reaction with an n-monoalkylamine or a di-n-C6-C22 alkylamine, and such as those described in the patent application SO00 /31154 (forming an integral part of the content of the description). These polymers may also contain other ethylenically unsaturated hydrophilic monomers chosen, for example, from (meth)acrylic acids, their alkyl-substituted derivatives or their esters obtained with monoalcohols or mono- or poly-alkyleneglycols, (meth)acrylamides, vinylpyrrolidone, maleic anhydride, itaconic acid or maleic acid or mixtures of these compounds. The preferred polymers of the invention are chosen from amphiphilic copolymers of AMPS and of at least one hydrophobic ethylenically unsaturated monomer comprising at least one hydrophobic part having from 6 to 50 carbon atoms and more preferentially from 6 to 22 carbon atoms. carbon and even more preferably from 6 to 18 carbon atoms and more particularly 12 to 18 carbon atoms. These same copolymers may also contain one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers not comprising a fatty chain such as (meth)acrylic acids, their ss-substituted alkyl derivatives or their esters obtained with monoalcohols or mono- or poly-alkylene glycols, (meth) acrylamides, (a vinylpyrrolidone, maleic anhydride, itaconic acid or maleic acid or mixtures of these compounds. These copolymers are described in particular in patent application EP-A-750899, US patent 5089578 and in the following publications by Yotaro Morishima: - Self-assembling amphiphilic polyelectrolytes and their nanostructures-Chinese Journal of Polymer Science Vol.18, N 40, (2000), 323-336 - Miscelle formation of random copolymers of sodium 2- (acrylamido)-2 methylpropanesulfonate and a non-ionic surfactant macromonomer in water as studied by fluorescence and dynamic light scattering-Macromolecules 2000, Vol.33, N 10-3694-3704;- Solution properties of miscelle networks formed by non-ionic moieties covalently bound to a polyelectrolyte: salt effects on rheological behavior-Langmuir, 2000, Vol. 16, No. 12, 5324-5332; - Stimuli responsive amphiphilic copolymers of sodium 2- (acrylamido)-2- methylpropanesulfonate and associative macromonomers-Polym. Preprint, Div. Polym. Chem. 1999.40 (2), 220-221. The ethylenically unsaturated hydrophobic monomers of these particular copolymers are preferably chosen from acrylates or acrylamides of the following formula (I): EMI8.1 in which R1 and R3, which are identical or different, denote a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical linear or branched C1-C6 (preferably methyl); Y denotes O or NH; R2 denotes a hydrophobic hydrocarbon radical comprising at least 6 to 50 carbon atoms and more preferentially from 6 to 22 carbon atoms and even more preferentially from 6 to 18 carbon atoms and more particularly from 12 to 18 carbon atoms; x denotes a number of moles of alkylene oxide and ranges from 0 to 100. The radical R2 is preferably chosen from linear C6-C18 alkyl radicals (for example n-hexyl, n-octyl, n-decyl, n-hexadecyl, n-dodecyl), branched or cyclic (for example cyclododecane (Cis) or adamantane (Cio)); C6-C18 perfluorinated alkyl radicals (for example the group of formula—(CH2)2-(CF2)9-CF3); the cholesteryl radical (C27) or a cholesterol ester residue such as the cholesteryl oxyhexanoate group; polycyclic aromatic groups such as naphthalene or pyrene. Among these radicals, the linear alkyl radicals and more particularly the n-dodecyl radical are more particularly preferred. According to a particularly preferred form of the invention, the monomer of formula (I) comprises at least one alkylene oxide unit (x>1) and preferably a polyoxyalkylenated chain. The polyoxyalkylenated chain preferably consists of ethylene oxide units and/or propylene oxide units and even more particularly consists of ethylene oxide units. The number of oxyalkylenated units generally varies from 3 to 100 and more preferentially from 3 to 50 and even more preferentially from 7 to 25. Among these polymers, mention may be made of: - crosslinked or non-crosslinked copolymers, neutralized or not, comprising 15 to 60% by weight of AMPS units and from 40 to 85% by weight of (C8-C16) alkyl (meth) acrylamide units or (C8-C16) alkyl (meth) acrylate units with respect to the polymer, such as those described in application EP-A750 899; - terpolymers comprising from 10 to 90% by mole of acrylamide units, from 0.1 to 10% by mole of AMPS units and from 5 to 80% by mole of n-(C6-Ci8)alkylacrylamide units, such as those described in US-5089578. Mention may also be made of copolymers of totally neutralized AMPS and of dodecyl methacrylate as well as non-crosslinked and crosslinked copolymers of AMPS and n-dodecylmethacrylamide, such as those described in the articles by Morishima cited above. Mention will more particularly be made of the copolymers consisting of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane-sulfonic acid (AMPS) units of formula (II) below: EMI9.1 in which X+ is a proton, an alkali metal cation, an alkaline-earth cation or the ammonium ion, and units of formula (III) below: EMI9.2 in which x denotes an integer ranging from 3 to 100, preferably from 5 to 80 and more preferably from 7 to 25; R1 has the same meaning as that indicated above in formula (I) and R4 denotes a linear or branched C6-C22 and more preferably C10-C22 alkyl. Particularly preferred polymers are those for which x=25, Rr denotes methyl and R4 represents n-dodecyl; they are described in the Morishima articles mentioned above. The polymers for which X+ denotes sodium or ammonium are more particularly preferred. The preferred amphiphilic polymers in accordance with the invention can be obtained according to conventional radical polymerization processes in the presence of one or more initiators such as, for example, azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN), azobisdimethylvaleronitrile, ABAH (2,2- azobis-[2-amidinopropane] hydrochloride), organic peroxides such as dilauryl peroxide, benzoyl peroxide, tert-butyl hydroperoxide, etc..., mineral peroxide compounds such as potassium persulfate or d ammonium, or H202 optionally in the presence of reducing agents. They are in particular obtained by radical polymerization in a tert-butanol medium in which they precipitate. By using precipitation polymerization in tert-butanol, it is possible to obtain a particle size distribution of the polymer which is particularly favorable for its uses. The particle size distribution of the polymer can be determined for example by laser diffraction or image analysis. An interesting distribution for the type of polymer and determined by image analysis is as follows: 60.2% less than 423 microns, 52.0% less than 212 microns, 26.6% less than 106 microns, 2.6% less than 45 microns and 26.6% greater than 850 microns. The reaction can be carried out at a temperature between 0 and 150 C, preferably between 10 and 100 C, either at atmospheric pressure or under reduced pressure. It can also be carried out under an inert atmosphere, and preferably under nitrogen. According to this process, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) or one of its sodium or ammonium salts has in particular been polymerized with an ester of (meth)acrylic acid and, -a C10-C1 g alcohol oxyethylenated with 8 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOL C-080 from the company HOECHST/CLARIANT), -a C11 oxo alcohol oxyethylenated with 8 moles of ethylene oxide ethylene (GENAPOL®) UD080 from the company HOECHST/CLARIANT), -a C11 oxo alcohol oxyethylenated with 7 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOL UD070 from the company HOECHST/CLARIANT), -a C12 alcohol -C14 oxyethylenated with 7 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOL LA070 from the company HOECHST/CLARIANT), -a C12-C14 alcohol oxyethylenated with 9 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOLO LA090 from the company HOECHST/ CLARIANT), -a C12-C14 alcohol oxyethylenated with 11 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOL# LA-110 from the company HOECHST/CLARIANT), -a C16-C18 alcohol oxyethylenated with 8 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOL T-080 from the company HOECHST/CLARIANT), -a Cig-Cig alcohol oxyethylated with 15 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOL T150 from the company HOECHST/CLARIANT), -d a C16-C1g alcohol oxyethylenated with 11 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOL T-110 from the company HOECHST / CLARIANT), -a Cig-Cig oxyethylenated alcohol) ened with 20 moles of ethylene oxide ethylene (GENAPOL# T200 from HOECHST/CLARIANT), -a C16-C18 alcohol oxyethylenated with 25 moles of ethylene oxide (GENAPOL T250 from HOECHST/CLARIANT), -a C1g alcohol -C22 oxyethylenated with 25 moles of ethylene oxide and/or an iso C16-C18 alcohol oxyethylenated with 25 moles of ethylene oxide. The molar concentration in % of the units of formula (II) and of the units of formula (III) in the polymers according to the invention will vary according to the cosmetic application desired and the rheological properties of the formulation sought. It can vary between 0.1 and 99.9% in moles. Preferably for the most hydrophobic polymers, the molar proportion of units of formula (I) or (III) varies from 50.1 to 99.9%, more particularly from 70 to 95% and even more particularly from 80 to 90% . Preferably for low hydrophobic polymers, the molar proportion of units of formula (I) or (III) varies from 0.1 to 50%, more particularly from 5 to 25% and even more particularly from 10 to 20%. The distribution of the monomers in the polymers of the invention can be, for example, alternating, block (including multiblock) or any. According to the invention, it is preferred that the polymers have pendant chains sensitive to heat and whose aqueous solution has a viscosity which, beyond a certain threshold temperature, increases, or remains practically constant when the temperature increases. More particularly still, polymers whose aqueous solution has a viscosity which is low below a first threshold temperature and which, above this first threshold temperature increases towards a maximum when the temperature increases, and which, above of a second threshold temperature decreases again when the temperature increases. With this in mind, it is preferred that the viscosity of the polymer solutions below the first threshold temperature be 5 to 50%, in particular 10 to 30% of the maximum viscosity at the second threshold temperature. These polymers, preferably, lead in water to a phenomenon of demixing by heating resulting in curves exhibiting, as a function of the temperature and the concentration, a minimum called LCST (Lower Critical Solution Temperature). The viscosities (measured at 25° C. with a needle 7 Brookfield viscometer) of the 1% aqueous solutions preferably range from 20,000 mPa. s at 100,000 mPa. s and more particularly 60,000 mPa. s at 70,000 mPa. s. The amphiphilic polymers in accordance with the invention are present in the compositions in concentrations ranging from 0.01 to 30% by weight, more preferably from 0.1 to 10%, even more preferably from 0.1 to 5% by weight and more particularly still from 0.5 to 2% by weight.
